Gas has gone up sixty cents in two days, Iβm pretty sure. My day job has me driving all over the place and these prices are tying me in knots over it.
March is Women's History Month, which means I'll be publishing multiple new #NotJustCistory posts about famous trans women throughout history. Our first subject is Carmen Rupe, a MΔori woman who spent her life advocating for LGBT+ rights & building a safe space for her communities. buff.ly/IqIsOZ2

I need to start making lists of things again. It's an urge I've suppressed for too long
Life comes at'cha fast... One moment you're standing at the sink washing recyclables thinking about how much you love gay domestic life with your partner, and then next thing you know you're covered in watered down creamer because the lid opened while you were shaking the bottle....
well at least SOMEONE has their priorities straight. π

While every man in this photo may be cisgender & heterosexual, the queerness of exploring against gender roles is evident in the image (not to mention that 'British authorities censored this picture in 1941'). 3/3 #SnailMailSky #Queerhistory
PS this postcard was written on in 1988 but not mailed.
What we would call Drag Shows today were very common in the 19th and 20th centuries, & 'female impersonators' were esteemed entertainers. These shows created a safe space for men to explore gender presentation and femininity, as well as trans women who could be and work as themselves. 2/? #QueerSky
Look at this postcard I found the other day! To me, it's a piece of queer history. Per the description "Gunners of a coastal battery were rehearsing a charity Christmas show when the alarm went. They had to run to man the guns..." (Topham Picture Library)
How is this queer history? 1/? #Historysky
The planting and starting seeds is my favorite part of the whole gardening process so I am VIBRATING WITH EXCITEMENT. It is time!
Thatβs such an amazing life card! I love being able to bring my learning as an artist and understanding as a writer into my love of tarot, it makes it feel so mix more meaningful to me!
What comes up for you when you first see them, (both in context of the reading & alone) & then layer that with the meanings given by the system being used, along with what's written in the guidebook. This is how I create/find the most meaning in my readings. 4/4 #TarotSky #WildUnknownTarot
The cards (individually, & as a group) tell a story with color, adding to the reading. This is why it's important to take in the cards pulled, & not rely solely on memorized definitions. The artists put intent into every aspect of the card, so ask yourself how do these cards make you feel? 3/?
Shifting to the fool: brightly colored on top with warm tones, but transitions to the the monochrome black, which hints at the unknown the fool is about to jump into. And then finally, the 9 of swords is entirely black and white, which draws in the anxiety and fear often portrayed by the card. 2/?
a top down image of three tarot cards resting on light brown wooden table. From left to right the cards are Temperance (a crane with fire), the Fool (A baby bird stepping off of a tree branch), and the nine of swords (an animal's jaw bone is being stabbed with nine swords, as well as being covered with worms crawling over it. There are also two eyes with nerves attached on the jaw bone.
It's been a while since I've talked tarot here. When I pulled some cards this morning I was so struck by the color story of these cards, I had to talk about it with y'all!
We start with Temperance- in full rainbow color which mirrors the balance & harmony of the card 1/?

new blog post is live! This one is a book review about a memoir that captures an otherwise little-discussed part the life of one of our Trans Elders; Holly Woodlawn. #TransSky #BookSky

My cats keep coming up to walk on me and I always end up exclaiming βWhy are your peets so cold? Where have you been?!β as they tapdance their little ice cubes over me.

Folks, if you enjoy a book or artwork or music *please* take a minute to tell the artist. It's hard enough to do *anything* during The Horrors but creating is extra hard. Your small note is HUGE in keeping people going.
Applies to everyone really.
Supporting each other right now is everything.

I recently listened to the audiobook and it was so despairingly, horrifically, sweetly amazing.
Ordered a book for someone as a gift it was supposed to be in βvery goodβ condition. Came covered in some dried liquid (soda?) on the outside and liquid stains on pages inside.
Complained. They sent me another βvery goodβ copy. This one was scribbled on with pencil and marker on multiple pgs.
Happiness is... a steaming pile of mulch?
Griffith Park has a newish mulch station where you can grab as much green waste as you want, this one more conveniently located in the northwest corner of the LA Zoo parking lot.
