also i didn't see the radical memphis stuff nearly as much as I saw the influence of grunge and skateboard culture & once again i think the reason that has stuck in my brain was bc of how the graphic design stuck with me, i loved the dirt 'n grime and when u paired it with bright colors i was HOOKED

like when i remember growing up in the late 90's, the stuff i would see in my family's homes and daily life does NOT match the post-memphis RADICAL style we often associate the 90s with one bit, but i DO remember seeing it more often in my school textbooks, ads, apparel, & TV

saw a post on a different site about how interesting it is that modern-retro aesthetics/styles/trends etc like synthwave and frutiger aero are fueled by what people vaguely remembering the early years of their lives "felt" like & i think its rly cool that graphic design is a huge reason for that
