I've never been able to really make the 'impact' of other analog photographers digitally tho, cause I'm not white, I don't really shoot to the (rather dull) white centric photography aesthetic, etc. etc.
I love that the internet ironically made me think small. Relationships of depth over 'reach'
Because of his relocation back east, digital communication is the one way we did keep in touch, but it also informed the ability to show up in real time in Baltimore for over a decade + encouragement to embrace analog photography became one of my strongest creative outputs.
In that I recognize that I'm not a globalist.
That the expansiveness of the internet I experience actually comes down to one core friendship that was talking to a co-worker that became a close friend some 22 years ago (H/T to @patrickjoust.bsky.social)
It's okay to be like:
1) the internet has its purpose, but
2) recognizing the limits of trying to limit your humanity down to a character count or the most eyes dilutes how you live your life both digitally and in reality.
Complicated because did the internet literally help me save my life 3 years ago around this time? Yes.
And so much of how I was perceived and warped versus who I really am in the tangible day-to-day is a product of being perpetually online.

Yeah, the flashback first image really made me go look at what I had from that trip, and its among some of my favorite shit I did earlier on with film photography.
But I REALLY don't feel comfortable with that corner of what realistically is "Jefferson" and not really California or Oregon. It was the disservice of actually looking at an old Facebook post of that lead photo where Ted commented what I said in the lead post under the photo.
There's a part of me that before I depart for Philadelphia that does want to go back and reshoot there, as I've pretty much done a bunch of places I've solo roadtripped the last few months in the Corvair that I have a campy love for.
