Keeps me connected (and aware) of mySelf, my values, my goals, my connections beyond myself, all of which make me a better person and a better citizen in this world. It helps me live into the fullness of myself, not holding back because of social conditioning, which I think the world needs more of

Literally meaning 'empty orchestra' in Japanese, the 'oke' borrowed from English 'orchestra', but shortened, as Japanese tends to do with loanwords, and then given back as we know it for the style of singing performance. Language trade in action!

I tried out every possible shortening I could of my birthname over the years, before realising that gender dysphoria was contributing and found a more gender-neutral one. It's still part of my birthname, a nod if you will, and sometimes still feels like it's settling in. But it's mine. Glad I chose

Those who could find a tunnel
that has no light at the end of it,
and hold it up like a telescope
to know the darkness
also contains truths that could
bring the light to its knees.
Grief astronomer, adjust the lens,
look close, tell us what you see.

Grief Astronomer by Andrea Gibson
A difficult life is not less
worth living than a gentle one.
Joy is simply easier to carry
than sorrow. And your heart
could lift a city from how long
youβve spent holding whatβs been
nearly impossible to hold.
This world needs those
who know how to do that.

I had some travel to visit my father in-law in hospital after surgery, which was a good visit, but my body doesn't respond well to travel and has been migraining since, so lots of gentle knitting time. Kids have started a new schl term, but it's been a rocky start. We persist.

I found you thanks to IG, and the queer tarot spaces there. I'm excited to see what you bring forth next. There's no pressure to 'show your working'. Let yourself go deep and do what you need to do. We'll be here.

I'm tired. I have serious decision fatigue from trying to plan our new house (with lots of decisions still to be made), and little capacity for all the creative ideas that keep knocking at my brain. Kids are on school holiday and the house is *not* quiet ever, which just adds to the chaos

Hey Lovely
Can you do me a favour?
Can you unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders and roll them?
Now, can you stretch your body until you make that cute little noise?
Inhale 1 2 3 Exhale 1 2 3 4
Shake it all loose
Smile like you have a secret
Now have a good day on purpose
Luv you

Photo of some faded denim blue knitting held in a pale hand, with a raglan increase in the centre. One needle at the top of the work on the left, with loose stitches on the right, the other needle a dozen or so rows (who am I kidding, it's sixteen) down, picking up stitches, including stitchmarkers at the raglan increase. In the background, slightly out of focus, is a bright rainbow waves blanket.
The pattern I'm working from is free, called the Bad Idea Blouse, using a cotton yarn on 4mm needles.
Turns out I've done a *few* extra raglan increases on my π§Ά tshirt while I haven't been paying attention π Back I go...

A photo of the sky, clouds cover it in varying layers, dark in a triangle from lower left to upper right and across. The sun is bright to the middle left, hazy behind the clouds. In the lower part of the photo, silhouetted trees and a couple of roofs line the shot, along with a solitary lamppost. The cloud along the bottom is tinted an orange-ish yellow.
A photo of the sky, soft and purple, with rounded purple-tone clouds in the lower half of the photo, underlit with yellow. Silhouetted in the foreground are trees, a lit streetlight, and a trellis fence. A roofline is in the front right, cut off by the edge of the photo. The image feels like soft morning stillness before the start of the day.

I've realised that the meds I've been trying the last 6mths for my migraines are actually doing nothing and it's time to go back to the drawing board with my dr and try something else. So frustrating. When I haven't been migrained though, I have made good progress on projects that need attention.

Dreams are so weird. The other day I woke from a dream that I'd got up, showered and dressed, only to have to do it all again. π Made me semi-grumpy all day. Most of the time I'd just rather not remember them.

Photo of a golden-yellow knitted and felted cross-body bag (beltbag) with a chunky black zip and a black clasp on the righthand side. The belt part is made in garter stitch and is adjustable in length. The colour is glorious.
Was struggling to find something yellow to post for this week's #showMeYourKnits without posting yet another cowl, forgetting this glorious crossbody bag I made a few months ago and use all the time and brings me All The Joy.
Slightly felted to prevent things slipping through any holes.
