Bit too philosophical for my liking. Pundits might pontificate about such cycles but someone who reckons that are going to be Labour Party leader at the next election (lol) should at least give us a clue about what should be done differently.

Christopher Luxon speculates Chris Hipkins could soon be rolled, accuses him of bringing family into... It was a testy affair.

Luxon's family vehicles, despite apparent hypocrisy, are not worth bringing up in parliament and doing so will obviously result in accusations of getting too personal. Hipkins should be extra careful given he requested and got privacy on his own family matters. Parliament sucks so much atm

Leaning into "I guess I'll have to tell Santa" when the 3 year old isn't following my instructions... it works extremely well, but is threatening your children with supernatural intervention technically child abuse? Slippery slope to telling her sinners go to hell...

Quite funny to see National banging on about the apparently poor shape the govt books were left in (despite actual indicators showing the opposite), while also steaming ahead with billions in tax cuts for landlords. How dumb do they think we are?

Infuriating to find the news is still talking about one stupid bit of graffiti that happened at a rally. Protesters are used to the media jumping on the antics of the most annoying/unproductive of our lot (usually Johnny Come Latelys) but this feels more politically biased than just sensationalist.

Chili plants still alive after two weeks away, woo. Looking better than last season's start already. Think the smaller pots mean they aren't getting too much water this time. Could be my season...

Probably in skill, but he would never had said this about Palestine, or reflexively opposed things like wealth tax and social insurance. I am so ready for the next progressive chapter!

It's like... OK, so yes it fucking sucks that they are so effective at propaganda, but given how utterly predictable it is that Zionists will react in the way they always do to the phrase, public figures would be better off not creating a story about themselves by using it

07.11.2023 02:24 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I have chanted it at plenty of protests and will continue to do so, and I don't think people for Palestinian liberation should be bullied out of using a slogan, but honestly, Zionists absolutely love the opportunity to misrepresent us and Green MPs using it really works for them

07.11.2023 02:22 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Probably controversial but I think MPs and public figures are better off not saying "from the river to the sea" because even though the assertion that all use of it is antisemitic is completely wrong (and disgusting), nevertheless it gives Juliet Moses a media platform for crocodile tears every time

Now that the election is over let me announce that Hipkins is the most disappointing leader of Labour of my lifetime and the sooner he disappears the better. He claims he plans to say on to the next election... lol... hoping my Labour Party won't let that fly or they may be flying without me!

My work is politics-adjacent and I am finally seeing real opportunities to do meaningful stuff under this new government, instead of just wallowing in the gloom. It's refreshing!

Interesting! Not surprising that there is a long history not quite grasping the little (and this time inconsequential) details of the Westminster system.

The Post

Just to be clear, there are no emails that show the Golden Mile project to be dead, the emails just show that one councillor wants to kill it and they are prepared to deliberately mislead the public to help do that. www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3501...

Silly pet peeve here but "prime minister-elect" is not a thing in New Zealand, Luxon is just the most likely person to form a government. "Incoming prime minister" or "prime minister-designate" would be more correct (still based on assumptions, but fair ones). Bloody Americanisms

One funny thing about the coalition discussions is that although we don't know what is happening we know it's the very nature of all three parties to be scheming grifty rat bags so there's gotta be some really silly, Art of the Deal from Wish stuff going on

Lots of losers this election, especially in Labour, but I think the biggest individual loser has to be Meka Whaitiri - her new party absolutely cleaning up the Māori electorates, and she was the incumbent, yet absolutely smoked by a newcomer from the otherwise pulverised Labour Party.

If an IDF soldier beats the shit out of an Israeli citizen for protesting against the killing on Palestinian children, which one is the most antisemitic?

Limiting their damage by keeping their even worse partners out is a rational position. You don't have to agree with it but I reckon it's worth a look given the magnitude of problems we face.

We don't know what they would or wouldn't be able to get. As a long time Green supporter, often voter, and always donor, I would absolutely prefer they explored any options to keep Seymour and Peters out of government

28.10.2023 04:51 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I don't think it would be self-destruction for the Greens membership to have the option of keeping NZ First and Act out of government with some sort of deal. One of the best things about the Greens movement is they have democratic membership participation in this stuff. They should see options.

Jack Tame: Why don't the Greens play the MMP game? The Green Party’s stance on a coalition deal with National undervalues the potential of MMP, writes Q+A presenter Jack Tame.

Excellent article. Tame is correct that the teal deal won't happen, and why, but I would have thought that given the opportunity here is to save National from Peters in exchange for some climate change 'concessions', they should at least try (and then present that to the membership to vote down).

Going to work-from-beach for two weeks in Northland from Saturday! Just me, partner, and the kids for the first week, extended family joining after. A long, long, long-needed escape from the coolest little capital.

Wellington’s roti canai combos, ranked from worst to best This Malaysian match made in heaven is a lunchtime institution in Pōneke – but not all are created equal.

Should be serious consequences for being this wrong. Justice for Satay Kingdom

Yes although pitching a March 15 conspiracy theory that personally attacks a former PM in the middle of the coalition discussions seems like a new depth

Peters claims Ardern never told him of terrorist's email in bizarre post The day after the attack, Ardern's office confirmed they had received the email.

Incredible that National are giving this guy permission to make some of the biggest decisions facing the country, when he has clearly and completely lost the plot.
