Markets are rich in #medicinalplants, & Gumi Shuka in Yerevan is no exception.
A visit is never just about buying. You get local names & uses, preparations. Sometimes, without even asking a single question.
For instance, the lady mentioned aveluk, maybe you use it too but not in soup. #ethnobotany
O patrรฃo do porto
Btw did you know #Portugal comes from Portus Cale?
It was a small Roman port known today as #Porto. In the Middle Ages, the region became the County of Portucale. Thatโs where the Kingdom of Portugal was born in the 12th century.
So yes, it all started here โโจ

If you are wondering, their mother came pick them up. Mission accomplished!
Trying to reunite baby bats with their mother ๐ฆ๐ฆ
After a call to the ๐ธ๐ฎ bat rescue centre, we placed them in a warm cardboard box.
At dusk, we set the box near where we found them. We set up a camera for a few images, then removed everything to give them the best chance of survival

Iโll be speaking at the SEB conference in Prague.
Sharing our work on Montpellierโs Droguier and how plant-based biomaterials sit at the intersection of material culture, and healthcare innovation.
If youโre around 7-12 June, letโs meet and talk plants

Mark, thereโs so much to discuss indeed. Will reach out via DM.
The intersection of natural heritage and collective memory is crucial. How can we better preserve and acknowledge these histories? #art #history #herbalremedies #materiamedica #herbarium

Montpellierโs materia medica holds collections from Marseilleโs colonial exhibitions, reflecting how medicinal plant knowledge was acquired, classified, and circulated. Excited for this event - especially the discussion on #materiamedica as material culture by @marknesbitt.bsky.social
I wasnโt surprised either, given that this includes food supplements - and we all know the issues surrounding them. That said, seeing actual figures helps put the scale of the problem into perspective ๐
I was preparing my phytovigilance class & came across this recent article by Banaz&Heinrich. They tested 73 Lavandula oral products - 30% failed quality testing & 63% lacked key compounds. Serious issues in HMP & supplements, raising consumer safety concerns. #herbalmedicine

The apocalyptic metal horse of the Paris Olympics has landed in Montpellier, Fr. And yes, the statue of Louis XIV in the background does look like itโs giving a dodgy salute - but letโs not go there.

Your action is courageous and meaningful in the long run! And yes precarity blocks mobilization but from the other side of the pond it seems everyone is paralysed. The friend I mentioned is very well off, and itโs infuriating to get this kind of message when literally the entire world is impacted.
An old friend from the US: Trump is the worst but fortunately I live in a liberal area in a liberal state so my day to day is pretty good.

Vance, you absolute bloody plonker !
