I think early AK also had that thing early on, then just realized that "Wait, who cares". Honestly, at this point I almost wouldn't mind them separating the story and battle stages entirely... though it'd lead to less neat moments where the two are integrated...

Also helps that it's at times "Exu, you absolute buffoon, stop standing in bad stuff" and not "Doctor, did you know that tile is bad and should be avoided? Doctor, can you pleas-".

Presentation does a lot, especially given the current Arknights event basically put Endfield into Arknights. Which is throwing me off so much.

Storytelling in Arknights is super easy. Add a few new character sprites, maybe a new song and background, and you're good to go. You can be anywhere in the whole in-universe world, and can tell whatever you want, however you want.

Endfield? Suddenly you got 3D models, a physical world, and more.

I still hope it's all just Endmin propaganda given nobody knows the history. But irregardless of that, the fact it's so happy-go-lucky in general would diminish that impact when we help with weird tasks.

From what I've heard (but I cannot confirm it), Endmin was actually pretty chatty in the beta. As for Wulfgard's story, I do think the new one has some nuances the old one lacks, but yeah. It's jarring. There's even bickering between him and Endmin!

Gilberta's is the one that has changed the most.

I'd imagine so. I can't recall if NetEase is also one of those big hitters that bought a lot of studios or attracted a lot of famous directors (in which case it'd be, you know, the usual).

But yeah, that's a crazy amount to ask for. Makes one wonder what the project was like.

That aside, NetEase sure seems to be cancelling a lot lately.
