Before there was Farmville, there was "U.S. Acres," and the Jim Davis-created strip first appeared 40 years ago, on March 3, 1986. Hereβs the first week of dailies:

Visiting folks. Iβm out walking in 15Β° f, neck warmer up over my ears under a hoodie, hands balled into fists inside my gloves, thinking I gotta get some winter clothes- a college girl walks by, no hat, no gloves, no scarf, and a pleasant smile that said βGo back to California you soft old man.β
Success! After a brief struggle with ancient video codecs, I have recovered a cleaner copy of at least the broadcast TV edit of the Moviefone spot from my personal backups.
With an added bonus bumper that not many have seen before. π
Enjoy

RIP to Legendary comics artist Sal Buscema. With writer Bill Mantlo, Sal introduced Rocket Raccoon to Marvel continuity, along with Rocket's cast of animals, in the Incredible Hulk #271 in 1982. I talked about it on Heroic Beasts episode 2. youtu.be/cAXun0zvOlk?... #SalBuscema #RocketRaccoon
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan art. Rocksteady, a mutant rhinoceros in military gear, and Bebop, a mutant warthog in punk clothes stand beside each other. Bebop is saying βtoitles.β (βTurtlesβ as pronounced in a cartoon New York accent.)
Best friends.

An illustration of an anthropomorphic black and tan rabbit, gathering kindling in a hazy snowy forest. They wear a cozy periwinkle capelet with orange and yellow patches, a puffy white shirt, and a black skirt. Behind the rabbit are the words βRabbit,β β1/1β and βToken Creature.β They are ostensibly a token for Magic the Gathering.

I am watching the MST3K #412: Hercules and the Captive Women. I forgot how often people refer to "Uranus" in this movie. "The mystic secrets of Uranus." "I am dedicated to Uranus." I was doing ok until "The blood of Uranus is eternal." And they do pronounce it "Yer Anus." Cracking up. #Maturity
think of all the cool art weβre missing out on because creators are constantly fighting to survive economically, fighting against corporations trying to automate creation, battling online trolls, nagging to get paid for work completed, learning to be being social media marketers, learning to be publ
I know, I heard that from many people back in the day. Leaving the theater everyone I went with was- overall impressions of the film aside- pleasantly surprised by the 3d effects, and some were very impressed. I felt left out
If other people like them they are free to espouse their virtues, their feelings do not impact mine nor do I hope mine impacts theirs.
I have seriously wondered if I have something wrong with my eyes because I really couldn't perceive any of Avatar's more passive 3D effects. And every time I notice it (or any film) trying to give me an *overt* 3D experience, all I can think of is the SCTV Count Floyd sketches
If he uses non-digitally-replaced actors, non-digital physical sets, shoots them with non-3d cameras, and calls them something other than Avatar, he might just save a few bucks, and I might be interested to see a James Cameron movie for the first time in 30 years.
