LRP is what I keep mulling over and it frustrates me endlessly. Plus the psychological effects of having this Damocles' sword constantly dangled over your head on the workplace are devastating. First time I've ever considered seeking support over outside factors. Of course this is 90% on purpose
The danger to my job from AI isn't that AI can do my job, it's that my job is made even more precarious by the way AI is shaping ideas of the value of work. It can't do my job, but it can be part of convincing people (incorrectly) that my job isn't necessary.
I think it's simultaneously this and the fact that many enthusiasts seem to have a narrow sense of what job tasks are/can look like. There's a lot of "you don't understand what AI can do" coming at some of us and a legitimate response is "you don't understand what I can do, and need to, in my job."
genuinely believe more people should play with the scholasticate and the horror of having citizens stuck down in the catacombs with nothing but their thoughts and the secrets of a land bogged down by secrets. there are, essentially, prisoners with the power to dismantle everything.
I got into one of these lists and couldn't be prouder. Truly a badge of honor X3
Portrait of Hilda Ware from Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward made with Copic markers. She is grinning smugly.
Hilda for #marchforxiv !
I love the shape of her eyes! #ffxivart #hildaware #heavensward
This will never not make me giggle πππ

Nav Toor @heynavtoor π¨BREAKING: OpenAI published a paper proving that ChatGPT will always make things up. Not sometimes. Not until the next update. Always. They proved it with math. Even with perfect training data and unlimited computing power, AI models will still confidently tell you things that are completely false. This isn't a bug they're working on. It's baked into how these systems work at a fundamental level. And their own numbers are brutal. OpenAI's o1 reasoning model hallucinates 16% of the time. Their newer o3 model? 33%. Their newest o4-mini? 48%. Nearly half of what their most recent model tells you could be fabricated. The "smarter" models are actually getting worse at telling the truth.
Here's why it can't be fixed. Language models work by predicting the next word based on probability. When they hit something uncertain, they don't pause. They don't flag it. They guess. And they guess with complete confidence, because that's exactly what they were trained to do. The researchers looked at the 10 biggest AI benchmarks used to measure how good these models are. 9 out of 10 give the same score for saying "I don't know" as for giving a completely wrong answer: zero points. The entire testing system literally punishes honesty and rewards guessing. So the AI learned the optimal strategy: always guess. Never admit uncertainty. Sound confident even when you're making it up. OpenAI's proposed fix? Have ChatGPT say "I don't know" when it's unsure. Their own math shows this would mean roughly 30% of your questions get no answer. Imagine asking ChatGPT something three times out of ten and getting "I'm not confident enough to respond." Users would leave overnight. So the fix exists, but it would kill the product.
This isn't just OpenAI's problem. DeepMind and Tsinghua University independently reached the same conclusion. Three of the world's top AI labs, working separately, all agree: this is permanent. Every time ChatGPT gives you an answer, ask yourself: is this real, or is it just a confident guess?
β οΈTold you so moment:

They proved it with math.

Me when I imagined a cool clamp-style illustration as a teen and then tried to build a story around it
Me, right now. And itβs not even an action scene.

Digital painting of Haurchefant from Final Fantasy XIV, as seen in one of Heavensward's cutscenes with a concerned expression with speckles of fire in the background. The left part of his face reflects the fiery hues; the fire is out of frame.
I see a tag with Haurchefant as the first prompt and I can't not spend the rest of the evening making an entry, even though I'm aufully late. Ended up making sort of a screenshot study? But more Haurchefant is always good #ffxivart #haurchefant #marchofxiv
A Final Fantasy 14 screenshot of Deep Blue and Red Hot, two humanoid fighters with horns on their heads and fins sprouting from their limbs, standing in the middle of a brightly-colored ring. Deep Blue has grayish-blue skin, bright blue hair, and is wearing a top revealing his chest and shorts with blue and yellow patterns. Red Hot has dark red, scaly skin, and is bare-chested while wearing green shorts with a red pattern and a blue sash.

New idea: instead of mandatory Copilot, WinOS should come with the FFXIV free trial preinstalled
Windows 14 rumored to have a free trial with no limit on playtime all the way up to level 70, including the award winning expansions "Heavensward" and "Stormblood," sources say.
I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

This is what I always thought too
Under the post announcing the legal action and the site's closure a lot of JP players were saying "good, play stupid games win stupid prizes" soooo π«
The site that got sued had a super toxic comments section, I got there by chance a couple times and read absolutely wild shit, even ppl wishing death upon foreigners who dared play on JP servers. I never came across the kind of comments that drove SE to take action but I'm not surprised
I believe T'khot has the biggest nose option for M!Miqo, and yes it was on purpose because hell yeah BIG NOSES #ffxiv (I strive to draw it even bigger than in-game)
I was redirected to a GeePeeTee-like chatbot for a survey and... had to stop responding because the way it fawned over my every message repeating what I said genuinely repulsed me π« π« π«
Itβs funny if you call PayPal or visa lines and bring this up asking why they claim βadult illustrationsβ is against their regulations but betting on the death of kids is totally fine. They donβt have an answer.
In fact yall should call them at least once a day with this :)
