Historically, flexible gas & hydro generators have complemented less flexible coal, to ensure supply can meet demand.
In the future, flexible generation will be dominated by batteries & they'll be also used to firm PV & wind.

It should be possible for someone, or even AI, to look at a households electricity usage and to put them on the best plan. Or even something approximating it.
I think Iβve seen this film before. Thereβs got to be a better way. It still surprises me there is not a business model to help/automate consumers to find a better deal.
