Inspired by ProPublica’s new database, I created a visualization of the nearly 400 LLCs that make up Trump’s business empire.

You should be able to criticize your government anonymously online.
Full stop.
"Age verification" legislation is just a pretty name for "forced online ID checks," meaning everything you post is associated with your government name
We have to stop this.

“The main activity will be an anti-AI fashion show, where garments designed specifically to confuse facial recognition systems will be exhibited. These pieces seek to protect citizens’ privacy from the constant mapping of security cameras operating in public spaces.”
I don't think "affair" is the really right term when he was texting a congressional aide explicit messages and she wrote back "this is going too far, boss"
On HS sports, gender and racial privilege, and the institutional silence that enables sexual violence.
“We are taking back your papers, you have no papers now” is even more chilling than “show us your papers”
Despite all the chatter, social media bans for teens lack evidence! New paper out in Nature Health.
(1) Harms from social media are real & serious.
(2) We need regulatory action but bans are not nuanced, do not empower youth, & are not supported by evidence.

This guy gets it.
Seriously though, this feels like a moment of transition from the post-911 era into something darker, more Torrian, and more focused on policing American citizens
episode two of the podcast I hosted with the CBC is out today, and it's such an important one: all about the targets of deepfakes, how they find out, and the messy, confusing, enraging aftermath www.cbc.ca/listen/cbc-p...

We are very pleased to announce one of the winners of the Feminist Legal Studies Editors' Prize 2025 is Ariël Decoster for her article, 'Men in/and Law: Developing "Critical Legal Studies of Men and Masculinities."'

“The power of Mayor Mamdani’s candidacy + early tenure have been rooted in this communal rhetoric of a city that works for everyone. If NY is to be a model for the nation of how a progressive city can work, we can’t neglect public libraries…”
We have until March 6 to comment on whether there should be one million more satellites in orbit or thousands of mirrors that reflect light back at Earth Jesus Fucking H Christ on a Pogostick
Absolutely wild. WSJ reporting that some OpenAI staffers thought the Tumbler Ridge shooter's use of ChatGPT raised the potential of real world violence but leadership decided not to alert RCMP. www.wsj.com/us-news/law/...
Kim Hricko, @kwanetaharris.bsky.social, and I recently published an article on how true crime media harms criminalized survivors. Here's another facet of that harm: true crime exposes incarcerated women to men seeking to sexually exploit them. @truthout.org truthout.org/articles/inc...
They saw France bust down the doors of X for being pedophiles and immediately started developing the national sex crime VPN.
!! Something I've been working on for a year is finally live!!
A report from @eff.org , @justjournalism.bsky.social, and IPVM geared toward journalists but important for law makers and the general public decoding the nefarious ways police and surveillance tech gets sold, marketed, and deployed. 🧵
"Any claims of AI solving for population scale problems must be matched against the reality of the Global South, in which young boys were applying enamel paint on the railings... with their bare hands to prepare for the arrival of Silicon Valley CEOs." www.techpolicy.press/indias-ai-im...
I need folks to understand this. The idea that local police forces will intervene at scale against ICE is a utopian fantasy totally disconnected from how policing has always worked
Well holy fucking shit. Ring cancelled their partnership with Flock. Keep pressure on them to stop volunteering their feeds to state, local, and federal agencies, though, because that part's still going.
Fuentes, yesterday: “Our #1 political enemy is women because women constrain everything, every conversation, every man, everything. They have to be imprisoned. They are the ones that are hurting the fertility rate. They're the ones making us sympathetic to poor people, which are also brown people.”
"Jim Boyling, who infiltrated environmental and animal rights activist groups for five years, said senior managers turned a blind eye to undercover officers having deceitful sexual relationships with women, often lasting years."
Tens of thousands of mothers were flagged to police over flawed drug tests at childbirth.
“... The child welfare agency is acting as an agent of the police. There’s no distinction between the two.” Important piece from @themarshallproject.org:
Someone used image generators to make (and monetize) a fake OnlyFans account of this feminist content creator, and they’ll likely never see any consequences.
“Many of the people messaging her about the fake OnlyFans account were men trying to get access to it”

Yeah, there's a lot of slippage between "you must pay attention to these technologies" and "you must submit to the current political economy of these technologies," and those are not the same thing at all
The potential for upheaval is precisely why economic elites wield AI as a weapon to threaten workers, even as we've seen time and again that AI cannot actually replace what humans do.
You can take these dynamics seriously without buying into the framing of the people doing the threatening.
Curious what "unlawful killing" is.
Also, I'm gonna go ahead and say we should call this is what it is: #femicide.

This is literally what CURRENT LAW requires. It’s in the Constitution! www.politico.com/news/2026/02...
Every study shows that being in a jail or prison, no matter how "nice" or whatever, shortens your lifespan. It does. So the government is taking years off the lives of people, including children, when it opts to put them in jail.

*sighs deeply* She can't teach an AI model to have morals, only to imitate her understanding of what having morals means. Its a pattern imitation machine, not an intelligent machine, people!
