A small selection of upcoming books I'm excited to read: bysinginglight.wordpress.com/2026/03/08/u...
Oooh, I think I saw the cover on the new book shelf at work but forgot to investigate.
It's felt like being in one of those Webcomic Name "oh no" comics this past decade or so, I used to see "why don't books come with AO3-style tags??" all the time- now that's how books are marketed, to the detriment of everything that doesn't fit in the breezy/spicy/tropey romance mold... oh no π«€
I usually do a roundup of what I'm currently reading on Sundays, but I'm kind of over it at the moment. So instead, what are YOU reading?
The Lit for Queer Liberation auction starts today and there's sooooo much cool shit you can bid on, including a signed Carrigan's trilogy!

This is cruel and I'm so sorry to all my other favorites, but I'm going to say The Raven Scholar.

Rereading this reading notes post made me want to reread all of the Earthsea books again: bysinginglight.wordpress.com/2016/03/04/u...
The kids actually really enjoyed this--again, completely improvised--song, so maybe I'll include it again next week!
I, uhhhh, meant to do Rain on the Grass as a scarf rhyme but somehow spontaneously forgot the words and invented a new SONG to the tune of Farmer in the Dell that actually worked perfectly so a+ for thinking on my feet?
I'm still getting used to Wednesday as my new storytime day, and I had a slightly different group of kids today. But storytime itself was fun--garden & soil themed, with a STEM focus. We talked about what makes good soil, I read Worm Makes a Sandwich, and we did garden sensory bins & playdough.

Beth the chicken, after a recent adventure where she ended up spend the night wandering around before returning home. Happily, she's fine, although we're still not sure how she got out of the yard!
Despite being featured in a summer cookbook, the fennel & date salad was a great end-of-winter option!
- golabki (Working Class Foodies)
- spice rubbed pork with fennel tomatoes artichokes & olives (Complete Diabetic Cookbook)
- salad with fennel, dates & parmesan (Home Made Summer)
Some favorite recipes made last month, with sources noted:
- tahini lemon sauce (original Moosewood cookbook)
- turkey sausage (1 egg, 1t bouquet garni & 1/2t salt per 1lb ground turkey)
- Crispy Sage & Fennel Eggs (Justine Cooks)
- Garlicky chicken with lemon anchovy sauce (Easy Weeknight Dinners)
