Trump’s Attacks on SCOTUS Are Personal—But Real Court Reform Should Be a Progressive Priority An analysis of Trump’s unprecedented attacks on the Supreme Court, the Roberts Court’s pro–Big Business record, and why real progressive court reform must become a political priority.

NEW: The president keeps attacking the Supreme Court after its tariff ruling, but the bigger story is structural.

SCOTUS overwhelmingly rules for the wealthy and obstructs legitimate progressive policies.

@toddntucker.com & @shahrzadshams.bsky.social explain why court reform must be a priority ⬇️📝

Estimating the Cost and Impacts of the SSI Restoration Act Stephen Nuñez and Jack Landry find that the SSI Restoration Act would cut poverty among SSI households by nearly 60 percent while updating and strengthening the program.

SSI supports 7.4M low-income seniors & people with disabilities but outdated rules and low benefits leave millions in poverty.

Our new paper from @socio-steve.bsky.social and @jacklandry.bsky.social models what would happen if Congress modernized SSI. The results are striking. 🧵👇

Bezos’ layoffs at the Washington Post are a warning: the extremely wealthy buy essential institutions and reshape them to extract more from all of us. Taxing billionaires is about breaking that power.

Rhetoric Isn’t Reform: The Good Life Can’t Be an Applause Line In his State of the Union address, President Trump claimed a “Golden Age of America,” insisting the economy is “roaring like never before” and pointing to market highs and headline indicators as proof...

At #SOTU, the president touted big numbers—but for most Americans, the real economy is still falling short. Delivering a #GoodLife requires public power that actually changes the rules, invests at scale, and is enforced—not just announced.

Our CSO Allison Zelman breaks it down ⬇️

Social insurance isn't just a safety net, it's a core part of the social contract - what holds together the uneasy alliance of an economic system that creates winners and losers with a political system in which everyone has to be empowered enough to meaningfully participate.

The childcare market is broken. Parents pay more than rent, yet providers earn poverty wages. This isn't a personal failure—it’s a systemic one. We need a new approach based on building collective bargaining power 🧵

Did you know that Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is one of only two income support programs for disabled people in the US (three if you count VA benefits), but more than half of its recipients live under the federal poverty line due to decades of neglect?

I think it's best for everyone to understand that the unified class project of billionaires right now is to do to white collar workers what globalization and neoliberalism did to blue collar workers.

What we’re witnessing at the Washington Post is the folly of entrusting self-interested billionaires with any democratic institution, especially a free and independent press. We need to a) permanently bury the myth of billionaire saviors and b) build a world-class public media system.

New post: 20-something college-educated unemployment is higher than we'd expect based on overall unemployment, so it's not just the slowing labor-market.

Chart is actual unemployment rate minus the projected one (from 1989-2019) by age. It's high for college people in their 20s.

Understanding Minneapolis as the current place where these two American political traditions are contesting for power is, to me, still the best way of thinking about both the horror and the resistance we've been seeing the last weeks.

Last week marked 16 years since the Citizens United decision.

The consequences for our politics have been disastrous.

Billionaire spending has skyrocketed—and it’s no coincidence that economic policies ever since have overwhelmingly favored entrenched wealth over the working class.
