IE: The Marathon ARG that was definitely propped up by marketing and by community is definitely “game design” and part of the overall shared experience of the game. But that’s obviously a specific edge case. It’s interesting to toy around in my mind the difference between “game” and “experience”.

My brain is saying what is the “game”, what determines “design”, should they have separate goals and priorities, etc. etc. I know /why/ you’re saying both things, and it’s entirely possible it’s just me being contrarian that I’m forming rationale for your previous assertion.

I didn’t see this thread initially but now I’m curious why you’ve pivoted since my gut reaction to reading the old thread was, “Yeah, he’s right.”

I got a 2019 model Walkman A45 and it absolutely fuckin rules. I’m glad some other brands are bringing back these types of devices.
