Badwater Basin, -190 feet below sea level. This is Lake Manly. It will be a dried up bed of salt deposits in about 2 months.

Monarchs have such distinct markings

Not always easy to get a sharp focus on a 75mm-150mm zoom lens, hand held, but i suceeded.

This photo capture was after i had walked away for a few minutes and a monarch returned to rest.

This was a different monarch that was chasing another monarch around

In these turbulent times, there is beauty to appreciate. Yesterday in Death Valley, at -190 feet sea level, a few monarch butterflies chased each other around, pausing on a branch to rest in the sunny crisp desert air. My Nikon D-3300 was ready.

Did Homan watch the same video I did? It’s the ICE officers spewing the hateful language with their f-bombs. For a person who conducted firearms trainings, Ross broke every rule in the rulebook. You don’t de-escalate a confrontation by drawing a weapon and shooting an unarmed person in the face.

i was a very active 16 year-old civil rights & anti-war protester in Milwaukee, when the FBI invaded community leader Fred Hampton’s home & murdered him in Chicago in Dec 1969. It was more than shock. Nixon & John Mitchell & J Edgar Hoover were brutal, but justice came to them. So too for Noem.

Was just there earlier this week. These are from Sunday December 14th.

On July 15 every year, i honor the tradition of visiting Paradise Valley, where i spent my first day of marriage in 1984, breathing the pristine air and walking on a summer snow field. Global warming has slowly reduced the glaciers on the mountain exposing the volcanic rock of this dormant volcano.

This waterfall just above the Longmire entrance to Mount Rainier National Park, flows from Comet Falls, which flows a mile of switchbacks above. I have hiked that trail twice and marvel at a 200 foot high waterfall when i arrive.

While enjoying our lunch sitting at a picnic table in Paradise Valley, this stellar jay briefly stopped to check out the scenery.

Usually to get a good look at a beetle, you look down at the ground. In this case, it appeared on our picnic table.

Peaceful mornings

Way too short of a visit to Maui, but i never tire of watching the pink flamingoes and the koi peacefully co-exist. If only all of life on earth can celebrate our differences this way with those who don’t look like us.
