#SlazoCollection Day 506. Atelier Totori! Always nice when I manage to find one of the older Atelier games (and it hasn’t got a reprinted cover). Just need Meruru to finish the Arland trilogy! And it’ll still probably cost me less than they wanted for the Steam ports…

Slazo Nostalgia Month goes into extra time, because what would it be without PokΓ©mon. Not Pokopia though, instead we're playing good ol' GB TGC! That's Game Boy Trading Card Game for those without back pain, live on www.twitch.tv/slazoking

#SlazoCollection Day 505. Mari Mari plushie! Everyone’s favourite goldfish VTuber (do other goldfish VTubers exist?), and one of my favourites in Phase. Was surprised to see this as Phase aren’t generally as on the ball with merch (unless you want coffee), so had to snag one immediately.

Crazy to see the shiny new PokΓ©mon game, Pokopia be out, and not be buying it. I'd love to, but I ain't buying a Game Key Card, and I ain't paying over Β£50 for any game. Which means I might well *never* own it. Just so surreal.

#SlazoCollection Day 504. Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light! Or Bravely Zero, as we'd come to learn later. And it definitely feels very traditional in many aspects of its design, though it didn't win over a younger me. Think I'd probably love it now though if I went back to it.

#SlazoCollection Day 503. Dragon Quest VIII Hero figure! Wait, this only cost me Β£10 back in the day? God damn. I got this at an MCM Expo at the time, back when I think DQ8 was still my only played Dragon Quest but I'd fallen completely in love with it.

Hello everyone. I come with the sad news that as you are no doubt already aware, we're saying goodbye to several of our friends and colleagues here at Eurogamer. Leaving us are Tom Orry, our editorial director; our video team of Ian Higton, Zoe Delahunty-Light, and Alix Attenborough; Alex Donaldson, our editor-at-large; and Will Judd, who worked across Digital Foundry, hardware and deals.

I'll start with Tom, who over the past year-plus had made himself a hugely valuable source of advice, expertise, desert-dry humour and world class poker faces (I think we just about made him laugh once, for a moment, on his final day).

Tom initially began the role when Tom Phillips was our editor-in-chief here, mostly working away diligently in the background in a two-Tom-tandem doing editorial director things, before taking on a more prominent role on the site itself over the past 11 or 12 months, gracing us with some signature console nostalgia and unjustifiably intense Project Gotham Racing enthusiasm. Tom, Dom, Alex and I, along with the rest of the team, worked together closely on what a 'new Eurogamer' might look like last year, and his experience in running multiple games media sites was consistently our rock to lean on.

While he may have initially seemed an outsider of sorts compared to Eurogamer chiefs of old - at least to some on the surface, coming from his 20-plus years across our sister sites VG247 and USGamer, and before that the cult-favourite site he founded in our once-rival VideoGamer - I can't stress enough how much Tom 'got' Eurogamer. His goal was for us to be at the heart of the big stories that mattered most to our readers with original, diligent reporting and on-the-button commentary, and that will absolutely continue.

In immaculately on-brand, limelight-dodging Orry style, Tom opted to sneak his farewell into this past weekend's What We've Been Playing column, but I'll be damned if he gets away with it that easily. Sorry Tom. Here's what he had to say…

#SlazoCollection Day 502. Valkyria Chronicles Remastered! SRPGs are always a weird one for me as while the Xcoms and Disgaeas have never gripped me, this fusion of turn based shooter RPG strategy somehow did.

The most heartbreaking thing in many ways is how unsurprising this is. This industry is broken, and I can't imagine how soul destroying the past few months have been for the devs who put years of their life into this.

#SlazoCollection Day 501. Internment! This was a powerful and disturbing read back when I read this in 2021. But throughout, a voice in my head went "yeah but this'll never actually come true, we'd never stand for this level of atrocity". Boy how innocent I was, as the past year or so has proved.

Finished Call of the Night vol 12! This feels like we hit go mode, as the current plot gets interrupted by back to back fights and Ko finally coming into his own. Plus they finally address the whole vampire phasing through objects thing. Excited to read more whenever I can get the next volume, haha.

#SlazoCollection Day 500! Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2! My mother's favourite games, and maybe my most replayed ones of all time. Two absolutely perfect gems, filled with hundreds of creative levels between them, and still never matched by any of the myriad sequels. Thanks for the memories, AiAi.

#SlazoCollection Day 499. Venusaur plushie! Maybe the biggest PokΓ©mon plushie I’ve ever bought? Even factoring in that they’re bigger now than they used to be, this dude is a unit. While I was never Team Bulbasaur, I’ve always loved the plant tank that is Venusaur.

#SlazoCollection Day 498. Azusa Nakano figure! Ah yes, my K-On phase. Why yes I did get into anime in '09/'10, how could you tell? In fairness, the series does have some great songs, Azusa's story is neat, and Kyoto Animation even back then were damn good at what they did.

Watched Wake Up Dead Man! Curiously, while I think this is the best written Knives Out film and the one I respect the most, it's also the one I enjoyed the least. Not sure what that says about me, hm.

Okay, not perfect, but this is the best I've ever done in one of these.

That said, I'd say outside of the Winds and Waves segment at the end... that... wasn't great for the 30th anniversary...

#SlazoCollection Day 497. PokΓ©mon Snap! 30 years of PokΓ©mon, huh? So why not celebrate with one of the greatest spin-offs, the original Snap for the N64. So much fun playing this as a child, and trying to get a high score to send in to N64 Magazine. Back when you had to do that with analogue film.

#SlazoCollection Day 496. Lost Odyssey! From that curious period where the 360 actually had a bunch of JRPGs. This was probably the best of that crop too. And crazy how there were then no more turn based RPGs until Expedition 33 a few years ago. Definitely no others. Nope, no sirree...

#SlazoCollection Day 495. Alone In Space! I always get this one mixed up with On A Sunbeam, despite them being very different. I guess it's the covers? Either way, these are nice stories, but also clearly from Tillie Walden's early days as they don't stick with me in the same way as her later works.

#SlazoCollection Day 494. Dancing Stage Mario Mix! I remember very well the Christmas I got this, as within about an hour of playing it my mother was sick of the sounds of me thumping around upstairs on the dance mat, and then I... barely ever played it again, sadly.
