Murder-suicide case shows OpenAI selectively hides data after users die OpenAI accused of hiding full ChatGPT logs in murder-suicide case.

I do not believe in the death penalty for humans.

I do support the death penalty for corporations.

When they murder people, let's dissolve them. Break them up, destroy their technology, nationalize their assets.

LLMs.

They promote suicide and murder, undermine a century of educational practice, drive deskilling, harm the environment, and benefit foreign adversaries spreading disinformation.

But the federal government wants to prohibit states from regulating them.

You'd think they were guns.

The ‘silent’ brain cells that shape our behaviour, memory and health Astrocytes make up one-quarter of the brain, but researchers are only now realizing their true value.

Long thought of as support cells, astrocytes are emerging as key players in health and disease

Why scientists are rethinking the immune effects of SARS-CoV-2 “Immunity debt,” a theory to explain the global surge in non-covid infections since pandemic restrictions were lifted, is increasingly being challenged by emerging evidence. Nick Tsergas reports Myco...

Immunity debt's "...explanatory power has faded as the number of non-covid infections has kept rising each year...

A growing number of scientists believe that the SARS-CoV-2 virus may instead be subtly altering our immune systems." 🛟😷medsky

This is very interesting (and yeah, I also had an initial “oh come on, that’s nuts” reaction to the first part of this article, but as I read on, I realized he was making some pretty compelling points)

When Broadway flops get a second life as student musicals Each year, many more Americans see live theater in local schools than on Broadway. So when a show has a short run in New York? It's not over.

Kids keep getting sicker as evidence for COVID immune damage builds As the press pushes "immunity debt" past the breaking point of believability, are parents ready to wake up to the illness crisis?

Kids keep getting sicker as evidence for COVID immune damage builds

Harm has been documented to T cells, B cells, dendritic cells, NK cells, and the complement system, and studies consistently find immune dysregulation to be a key feature of Long COVID

I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time - when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness. The dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30-second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance.
