Maverick, our education Golden Eagle, spending some time out of the cold and in the warm garage. 🪶
We use the garcelon method, there’s been great research done on this method showing null effects on birds.
Each transmitter should last 6-8 years giving us valuable information on migration as well as their daily movements. We make sure each backpack is fitted correctly so it won’t interfere with how they move. 🪶#raptorresearch #goldeneagle
This recapture shows how important banding wildlife is to continue to learn about their natural history. If you find a banded bird, submit the number to reportband.gov!

We’ve been in contact with Marek Plater, his original bander who banded him on Lehigh Furnace Gap and was thrilled to hear about his recapture.

Hello Blue Sky!! Our first post is about this beautiful male Golden Eagle that we trapped and was already banded! The most exciting part is that he was banded in October, 1992 in Ashfield, PA as hatch year bird making him almost 33 years old!
