Joseph Gordon-Levitt made a 12-minute response video to people mad at him supporting mass surveillance and censorship, and somehow got even MORE wrong about Section 230 than his original congressional testimony.
@taylorlorenz.bsky.social has been on fire explaining why Section 230 is important for everyone who wants an internet that is more than just five sites controlled by big tech.
If you've got some coin, toss some in the plate of trans journalists telling trans stories from trans perspectives, because fuck jf the cis corporate media are going to do it.
How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.
Ezra Klein is doing tepid centrism the right way.
The entire centrist establishment writing fan fiction about how Kirk's life was dedicated to building bridges while assiduously ignoring the movement-wide conservative effort to incite a pogrom against trans people.
Here it is. Please share it widely. I didn't do this because I wanted to be safe, but because I am determined not to lose my freedoms without a fight.
I'm doing this for you, America. Long live the bill of rights and fuck Charlie Kirk.
if youd like to get a bit more background on how young men get radicalized online but don't want to dive into hell facefirst alone i have a book about it
(it's five years old, but speaks to methods & human motivations that are still current, i think)

"It is sometimes considered gauche, in the world of American political commentary, to give words the weight of their meaning..."
History: “Eventually the incompetent fascists invariably lose power and then society recovers in a new and stronger way”
Me: “Oh, cool, so what has to happen for the spell to be broken??”
History: “mmmm…well, that part is less encouraging.”
If you have the resources, today is a great day to subscribe to a trans artist’s patreon or to trans journalism like @assignedmedia.org. $5 a month is great.
You can also give to local mutual aid or orgs like Fenway Health that specialize in gender-affirming care:

Anyways, reading this book as a person who grew up within this framework is only a little retraumatizing. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand our moment better.
This comparison just so well encapsulates the way some Christians view anyone that does not bow to their narrow view of how people can and should behave. They will force their values on you and mutilate you to fit into the role they have decided you should be in.
Basically, Procrustes was a villain who would invite people into his home to spend the night and then mutilate his guests into exactly fitting the bed that they lay in, either by cutting or stretching.
I've been listening to @swordsjew.bsky.social's book "Wild Faith" and I can't stop thinking about the comparison she draws between the Greek myth of Procrustes and the way that the Christian right views anyone that steps outside the bounds of the roles they feel the Bible prescribes.
If you want to support trans journalism and articles like this great peice. Support @evanurquhart.bsky.social over at @assignedmedia.org .
This is a great article.
This podcast received the Melbourne ABC podcast of the year. I spend a whole hour defending my views on trans athletes with random callers.
This podcast includes several researchers in this field including myself and Dr Cheung and Dr Ryan Storr.

BAPTIST NEWS [Dec 26] -- Publisher Mark Wingfield: "Taking away their rights & health care, shaming & scapegoating them—this is a death sentence. If you gave a damn you would speak up...If Jesus were among us today, he would be eating dinner with some trans folks..."

POLITICO [Dec 24] -- GWU law prof Naomi Schoenbaum argues that Skrmetti is not just about trans but it "strikes at the heart of sex equality [law]" and states' right "to ensure we all keep in our gender lanes"--including discouraging "women from rejecting motherhood." [by @rikiwilchins.bsky.social]
"One of the great tragedies of mankind is that morality has been hijacked by religion. So now people assume that religion and morality have a necessary connection. But the basis of morality is really very simple and doesn't require religion at all."
-- Arthur C. Clarke, born #OTD 1917
Pundits keep pretending that RFK Jr is "anti Big Pharma" but that is just what anti-vaxxers say to make their ideas seem palatable. He constantly promotes Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine, both of which are produced by pharma companies.
The normalization of misgendering trans youth with non-affirming parents has been slow and insidious.
This story is about a trans boy. He is a "daughter" to no one. But his mother's transphobia has been adopted by the reporter as the frame for the story.
NOBODY KNOWS just how many Americans per year are killed off by health insurance companies delaying and denying coverage because they DON’T SHARE THE DATA.
People are disappointed that the guy was just doing it for weirdo reasons and not because of class consciousness but the class consciousness was literally the friends we made along the way. It was everyone in america saying that dickhead deserved it. It was us all along.
i think it is important to clarify that this — the exclusionary distribution of benefits on some sort of ethnic or national basis — isn’t socialism. it’s, you know, something else.
What was up with Justice Amy Comey Barrett? Did Justice Ketanji Brown's passionate defense of Loving have any special meaning? Does Justice Alito have a Fox News chyron in his brain? And what to make of all the headlines suggesting trans youth's access to gender-affirming care is already lost?
