Provinces across Canada have shown that effective bottle return programs lead to more containers getting recycled. The Ford government is actively undermining ours and we're the ones paying for it.

At a time when we're faced with how valuable our ground water is to the future of our community we can't afford to let gravel pits and quarries drain the aquifers that we rely on.
We need to protect our water for our people and our communities.

I'm proud to be celebrating Pink Shirt Day today. It's more important than ever to speak out against bullying and discrimination in our classrooms and in our communities.
We must stand up to bullying when we see it, and continue to speak out against discrimination everyday.
Water is life. Doug Ford is selling it off to the highest bidder.

It's so inspiring to see young people across Ontario standing up for our environment and protesting against Bills 5 and C-5.
We'll continue to stand with you to protect Indigenous sovereignty and uphold environmental protections.

"I see from my friends out here that nobody’s really getting housing”
The Ford government is criminalizing addictions and homelessness and refusing to address homelessness the way we know would work - with housing.

Sending this out to share my sadness and worry for the KCI community and the students, staff and families impacted by yesterday’s bus crash. I’m praying that all heal and get support to process the tragedy.
My condolences to the family of the driver.

"Now is the time for bold action. Hard challenges require us to step away from partisanship and focus on the people we serve."
@lfairclough.bsky.social and I wrote about the housing crisis Ontario is in and why we worked across party lines to put forward a bill to end homelessness.

Tomorrow the Homelessness Ends with Housing act goes up for debate!
I'm excited to go to bat for our bill with @lfairclough.bsky.social and see if we can push for real change.
I was proud to support a bipartisan bill alongside @marymargaretbey.bsky.social and @kristynwongtam.bsky.social to honour Oct 18th as Persons Day and I'm glad to celebrate today.

I'm thrilled to celebrate the first Persons Day in Ontario today.
October 18, 1929 was a landmark moment in the fight for women’s equality in Canada when five brave women succeeded in having women included in the legal definition of “persons.”

Happy Thanksgiving Kitchener!
I'm feeling thankful to be able to spend time in nature with friends and family this weekend.
If you're able please consider giving what you can to local organizations like @foodbankwatreg.bsky.social, Nutrition for Learning, Tiny Home Takeout or Food4KidsWR.

Last year, more than 81,000 people in Ontario experienced homelessness—a 25% jump in just two years.
I know Ontarians care about their neighbours. Let's come together and ask the Ford government to take the actions we know make a difference.

Wishing the Jewish community in Kitchener a blessed Yom Kippur.
G’mar Chatimah Tovah.
The Ford government is leaving our foodbanks out to dry at a time when people need them most.
Our foodbanks are a lifeline for thousands of Ontarians. They need our support, not more costs being piled at their feet.
Ford is failing on recycling.

I want to thank the Healing Of The Seven Generations
for organizing today's walk, Crow Shield Lodge for the sacred fire, Elder Myeengun Henry for the sunrise ceremony and Anishnabeg Outreach for today's farm gathering.

Ontario Greens are committed to acting on the recommendations of the Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada and will continue to oppose legislation like Bill 5 that undermines Indigenous freedom and attacks Indigenous lands and sovereignty.

Reckoning with these truths is an important step to repairing their lasting damage. But our work does not stop there.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a time to remember the parents, children, siblings and elders tragically lost to the horrendous acts of cultural genocide committed in government-sanctioned residential schools.

This morning I took part in the annual Truth and Reconciliation walk hosted by The Healing of the Seven Generations.
It was great to see so many people from the KW community come together for this powerful reflection on the lasting impacts of residential schools.

I stand with Indigenous leaders urging the Ford government to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a provincial statutory holiday in Ontario.

It's important to take time to reflect on and celebrate the strength, courage and resiliency of Indigenous Peoples and Nations who have worked so hard to defend their people, land, language, culture and communities.

I had a great day yesterday in Grassie for the 106th International Plowing Match.
It's such a treat to be able to speak with our farmers and learn about their stewardship of Ontario's farmland.
If you're in the area this week make some time to attend the IPM!
The Ford government has given up trying to solve the homelessness crisis – we're not going to.
Thanks to Bill Doucet for highlighting the work we're doing.
We can’t just stand idly by and watch while our friends and neighbours die.
Thank you to Overdose Education Work Group for organizing this event.

Yesterday, I joined folks from across KW to mark Drug Poisoning Awareness Day.
It's clear to everyone that something needs to change. Ontario needs a more ambitious strategy to address the tragic toll of drug poisonings.

I want to extend warm wishes to all those celebrating Eid al-Adha today.
I hope you have joyous celebrations!
Eid Mubarak!
Here at home, the Ontario Greens remain firmly committed to protecting and advancing 2SLGBTQ+ rights.
We will always stand with queer and trans communities in the face of injustice.
Happy pride this month and every month! Now let’s dance!

As we celebrate love, identity, and the progress made by 2SLGBTQ+ communities, we must also recognize the rising tide of hate and violence around the world.
Pride began as a protest, and this year, the fight for equality, safety, and dignity continues.
