For researchers studying high-level neuropsychology with low-level mechanisms, HNN is an extremely promising and powerful bridge between the micro and macro levels of brain function. If there’s funding already allocated for collab, it’s worth a look.

I like this clean dissection - it comes back to the fundamental tradeoff between spatial and temporal precision. EEG (as you mention) can address the other shore of the gulf. The next step is to bridge the gulf; how do we create a unified theory of response inhibition? Maybe simultaneous fNIRS-EEG?

This is great stuff! If each of the three elements can be selectively removed without abolishing minimal selfhood, does that mean there is no single necessary-and-sufficient component of consciousness? Relatedly, can a quale be a quale without a self?

Don’t fight the feeling! Instead, close your eyes, accept that claustrophobia is a natural response to being enclosed, and give the feeling time to run its course and dissipate.
I’ve been scanned 20+ times, and this approach helps me. The feeling usually fades after a minute or less. Good luck :)
