That’s exactly it 😍
That’s exactly it 😍
Yep
*swoon*
I can’t tell you how much peace this gives me, & how much it eases the guilt of feeling like nothing I do— nothing I’ve ever done— was enough. It also helps me to remember there are many different ways to be an activist. I think the trick is finding YOUR way, & then doing it with your whole heart.
So pretty!

Nopenopenopeitynope. That’s beyond uncool.
I think you absolutely have a lot to offer. Opening doors in publishing isn’t what I’d be looking for from a mentor. I already have an agent. I’d be looking for someone with more experience and skill than most of my crit partners to help guide my work and help keep me from getting stuck.
This makes me SO MAD
Same. But I fjnd it hard when the images are demanding I cut my favourite words
Sketchbooks are supposed to be messy. That’s what they’re FOR—the daily practice, the working out of ideas. Those instagrammers who show their exhibition-worthy sketchbook pieces make me so mad 😂
So. Many. Drafts.
And don’t get my started on how things change once I start illustrating. Sometimes the push and pull completely pulls it apart

An illustration of a woman in glasses looking up at a poster with a super cat surrounded by little admiring cats. Text on poster reads: "Our Favourite Picture Book, by John Writer" and "Our class has drawing his character!" The woman in glasses is labelled "Jane Illustrator, Feeling Miffed" and her thought bubble reads "But…John Writer didn't decide how this character would look…I did!" In the bottom right corner: #PicturesMeansBusiness, signed by artist Sarah McIntyre.
Gentle reminder to authors & publishers of illustrated books launching this week: Remember to credit/tag the ILLUSTRATOR, esp if you're using their art in promotional materials. See www.picturesmeanbusiness.com Illus: @sarahmcintyre.bsky.social #PicturesMeanBusiness #KidLit

In the case it means Picture Book. It is a widely known acronym in writing circles 😉
In other circles it might mean Peanut Butter. Not here though.

I love this one Vanessa!
I’ve also been wanting to do this (I wrote/dummied one PB/GN hybrid that didn’t sell on sub). My prob is I base my stories on my ND kids and get feedback like “no kid is like that” 🤨
What age range are you wanting to write? What issues do you want to tackle?
