For those applying to NIMH - how are you handling the data management plan factor 6 (with regard to the NIMH requirement for a “validation timeline”) if you’re not collecting large scale genomic data (but instead ihc, behavior, etc)? I can’t find an example on this anywhere!

Looking for examples of intro to revision page for submitting a revised R15 - trying to get a feel for how to structure it/how to indicate changes. Please let me know if you’d be open to sharing!! Trying to get this 17th% R15 through whatever funding threshold the future holds…..

For every 1 animal used in research, there are hundreds to thousands used for food.
Research animals globally: Estimated 50–100 million/year (most are mice, rats, and fish).
Animals killed for food globally: Over 70–80 billion land animals per year, plus trillions of fish.

The NIH summer internship program (SIP) has been officially cancelled, across all institutes.

It’s a sad loss for the brightest science students in America, for American science, and for future cures for diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s. 🧪 1/

Just submitted my first NIH R15 research grant proposal!!!!

With everything that has happened with this grant and I over the past 6+ months, just getting here is a huge victory.

I’m not sure what’s going to happen now, but I’ll celebrate this small win in a sea of chaos and destruction.

I’ll have to look again- tried to guess but wasn’t super sure

☺️ thank you! I think I’m keeping it all in because FFS that is probably the award I am proudest of and means the most to me. If we can’t bring *everyone* up with us, then is what we’re doing even worth it?

I have that award listed in my Biosketch and mention it as proof that I can successfully mentor trainees….for a grant that specifically wants me to increase research access to and mentoring of undergrads.

How do I even approach this while staying true to myself and my students.

So R15 AREAs (due Tues) still have the NIH diversity language in the PAR.

Soooo… I still have pieces about lowering barriers & supporting my students (also that I have a *clutches pearls* award for DEI/mentoring)

And I’m a proud+loud queer/firstgen scientist.

How do we even do this friends 😩
