What infuriates me is that his defenders (I'm looking at you, Pod Save America) have doubled down on him. There's no shame in taking the L, but they simply refuse to let him go.
For all my frustration with it, I do think the acting is good given what everyone has to work with. But Do the Right Thing changed me in such a huge way when I first saw it a few years later that it made me go back to Crash and think βwait a minuteβ¦β
20 years ago today, Crash beat Brokeback Mountain for Best Picture, and the way my classmates and I discussed both films was a wakeup call that prejudice isn't limited to one side. Been meaning to write this one for a while:

Phenomenal breakdown from Eliza Orlins about how Texas disenfranchised Black voters last night.
I'm fine with James Talarico winning the nomination in Texas. What I'm not fine with is the racism his supporters had towards Jasmine Crockett and her fans over the past few months. He's going to have to really put in the work to get the Black support he needs to be competitive after this.
I still have Ethan Hawke as the dark horse to win. He's been campaigning like crazy.
So is the Far Left ever going to disavow Graham Platner, or are they in so deep at this point that they can't admit failure?

Agreed here. Would love to know what it would have looked like with more promotion, too.
Whenever a person says "but Democrats had a trifecta!" I know they didn't watch Schoolhouse Rock - particularly "Three-Ring Government" - as a kid, because having two branches of government does not mean "trifecta." (Also, Lynn Ahrens wrote the lyrics for Ragtime!)
The βno new warsβ crowd seem to be even more silent with every new war started. Hope youβre enjoying your choice.

I was offline the whole time this was occurring and I see everyone arguing over someone whose posts I canβt seeβand from what it sounds like, I wouldnβt want to!
The base of the Democratic Party are Black women. That base loves both Kamala Harris and Jasmine Crockett. Every time someone complains about this, ask them who they think the base is.
As it turns out, killing Vic Morrow is only the second-worst thing John Landis ever did.

I love it when the title tells you exactly what the movie is about.

I saw posts about Scott Alexander come up and I just want to say they are NOT talking about the Scott Alexander who co-wrote Dolemite Is My Name and the OJ miniseries! That is a DIFFERENT SCOTT!
Strong words here from Charlotte Clymerβand all of them true.
Remember - Graham Platner retweeted Stew Peters, the guy who made these posts.
Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Peters (the one with the Nazi tattoo) retweeted a Holocaust denier today. He deleted the tweet, but screenshots are forever.
Tony Motherfucking Kushner. That's it. That's the post. www.gq.com/story/tony-k...
Fun fact: Bob Kerrey dated Debra Winger!
Oh my god that would be an AMAZING movie!
Maybe the reason people invented the idea of the "brilliant serial killer" is police historically don't investigate the class of victims killers pursue (i.e. women, trans people, sex workers or some combination of all three) with enough vigor to stop them before they commit more crimes.
Stuhlbarg manages to escape that movie with his dignity intact. Canβt say the same for any of the SOTU attendees tonight.
Jesus Christ, what horrible news! My love and deepest sympathy goes out to Martin Short.
Pop quiz, hotshot: Thereβs only two channels on your TV. Oneβs playing the SOTU, the otherβs playing After the Hunt. Whatβs your preferred method of suicide?
I think Angry Al Gore is my favorite Al Gore.
I have a friend who once worked with Mitchum. He looked over at Mitchumβs script and heβd written βNARβ next to all his lines. He asked βRobert, what does NAR mean?β And Mitchum said βNo Acting Required.β
