Not sure why I didn't play UFO 50 at all last year. It was one of my favorites of 2024 and I left so many games untouched. Just spent a couple days getting Campanella-pilled. Thinking I might go for Pingolf next. Or maybe finally get into Barbuta.

I’m not sure I have it in me to play through the whole game twice, is my main issue. Especially when you can’t skip cutscenes (IIRC).
I do want to try getting into Valkyrie Profile again, but one thing that keeps putting me off is knowing there’s a bunch of missable, arbitrary steps to reach the “true ending”. Is it worth going for? Are there any easy to follow guides for this?

watching a vid on X360 era games and they unlock some achievements. and GOD i forgot how satisfying the X360 achievement toast was. they nailed it on the first try. no playstation trophy or steam achievement has ever felt as good. i might need to install retroachievements to chase this high again

Funniest example: Before moving to Montreal to break into games, I thought of what studios would be cool to work at. Near the top was BioWare. A few years later I shipped Andromeda. It was a lousy place to work, the game was a mess, and I'm not even in the credits. Dream accomplished, I guess?
Even if I never work in games again, I think my time there was better than some people. In ten years I had my fingers in all kinds of high-profile games. Meanwhile I know some people who've been in the industry just hopping from one cancelled project to another. It's hard not to say I Did The Thing.

I have work outside of the games industry, so I’m doing fine. It’s just sad. Probably moving back home soon and giving up the whole thing. I hope the industry can bounce back someday.
Used to be I could hop from one contract to another with just a couple months off in between. Nowadays every position I’m up against hundreds of other applicants. Even when I have direct referrals, I can’t even get initial interviews.

The text speed of Xenogears is so rough with a localization this dry. Just hit the first major town and want to do the JRPG thing of talking to all the NPCs, but it’s painful watching “I’m a guard! Don’t cause any trouble!” glacially crawl across three text boxes.
