Small example of Common Primrose (Primula vulgars) with 5 open white flowers with yellow centres (and one more about to open). Found on a road verge, surrounded by grass, goosegrass and fallen leaves.
I love snowdrops, crocuses, lesser celandine, and even daffodils, but wild primroses convince me most that winter is behind us and spring around the corner.
A Somerset County Council finger post between Wincanton and Sherborne with 4 directions indicated. It is white with black writing. The filial is pyramid shaped with the letters SCC on it and Somerset is written vertically on the pole. There is a hedge in the background and a tree bough overhead.
