Really? Read this when you can:

Not consistent with the 70% irreproducibility rate of bioscience data.
Well, you got to give it up for RFK Jr who is staying well on brand by recruiting someone who doesn't treat women well.
If your committing fraud and getting p-value to happen, then yea its happening. At least long enough to get the paper published.
The authors hypothesis in the book is that the irreproducibility is mostly due to what Langmuir called "pathological science" (conformational bias) and fraud, but some due to p-hacking, and other statistical malfeasances. Some countries are far worse than others.
Well, this reference: www.amazon.com/Unreliable-R...
suggests that about 70% of all bioscience data is irreproducible, so Ioannidis may be right for the wrong reasons.
I am American! You didn't give my my prize, so Im going to invade a country that can't defend itself! I'll show you!
Page-sds by Lamelli, About 1/2 million times. I want my prize money.
Easy. Lowry assay. What is my prize?
Food poisoning from eating chicken.
IMO, new area's like this should be investigated and funded within the proposed and putative "reproducibility initiative" rather than the young investigator reward. We need to find out if this is reproducible in different labs and in different contexts first.
Yep. Jason is a great defender of D M Sabatini as well. Frankly, I think think DMS needs to go not because of any accusations by a past girlfriend, but because of his extremely concerning pubpeer record:

If you work for a NAS member and commit fraud, you get a good job.
Most of the undergrad teachers in the R1 flagship state school STEM dept I know well are bad; the dept has a reputation for this. Why? Two reasons: 1.) R1 faculty are hired based on their perceived ability to get grants only 2.) lecturers are hired if they are not bad teachers and not white males.
I'm for people doing the work that they are suitable for through their aptitude and competence for the work. If, in achieving that, we get "diversity" in the workplace, than I say that is fine.
This gave me a serious LOL.
Yet 70% of the data out there is thought to be irreproducible. Conclusion: He's kind of right.
I see. Thank you for the response, and best wishes to you.
There was a lady who lost grant funding into suicide research that feared ICE. I'm not sure of her circumstances, but if "undocumented residents" not on green cards/visas can receive grant money, that's not going to go over well with everyday Americans. I don't suggest publicizing this video.
On college campuses, most buildings are named after a person, often times the person is alive and the individual gave the school a lot of money. I think they probably wanted the building named after them.

Has actual numbers, and a mechanism, to back up we he is saying anecdotally. From what I saw in my graduate program, the white women and minorities got jobs in either R2's, PUI's or good industry jobs, and the white males had to post-doc.
My pleasure. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Wow. Sholto will never have to work again. Maybe you can follow his lead.
Suggested reading over Xmas, my fellow Titan:

Yes. Old, smart and powerful white guys (like you) had it good, but somewhat dumber white guys (like me) may have lost something here, and this is outlines a possible mechanism. Merry Xmas, anyways.
Lewd insinuations do not make your point more compelling. Although rational argument may not compel the other side, it could compel people who are watching it.
If you come off that way they only become more reprobate to spite you.
IMO, you should have gone. Crappy or misguided authority always needs to be challenged. When you didn't go, it appears that you subjected them to a purity test, they failed it, and you think that they are beneath you.
I was liberal, but thanks to the craziness of woke and (probably) losing my job due in part to DEI, I am now a centrist, and will never vote again. I dislike both parties.
Curious what connects anisole to your story.
I've worked with several PI's that cherry-picked data for either a grant or a paper. If I said anything, I would have been up shit creek. If super intelligent PI's do it, why not sleezy, charming ding-a-ling's like RFJK Jr? He is merely a reflection of the worst of academia.
