Went to an exhibit last weekend that included a bunch of character sheets and animation cells and promotional materials from Looney Tunes history and it was amazing.

(Basically, the laptop has sucked since the beginning, but has been getting worse, so we’re trying to deal with it. Best Buy, where she bought it, kicked us to HP because it’s under HP warranty. Fair! HP then spent hours trying to fix it, but the answer seems to be “it’s too full”

I think the person we spoke to (for hours last night & hours again today) tried all that.

We at least pushed enough that we’re being sent to the warranty department.

I basically just wanted to know if “sorry, the laptop we sold you in 2025 can’t run Discord” was as off as it sounded.

(That said, I can suggest to @silver-chipmunk.bsky.social that she use a different browser. I don’t think she’s particularly attached to Chrome.)

To be clear: they’re not saying not to have it on when not in use; they’re saying to delete the app because it’s taking up too much room. And the same with Discord.

(They keep referring to these two programs—which along with Teams + Chrome are the only ones she uses—as “unnecessary apps”!)

Dunno when the laptop was manufactured, but she bought it last summer. (Purchased in…June, I believe? Shipped in August; warranty good until this coming July.)

(To be clear, it was a very inexpensive laptop, but still: aren’t apps like Discord kind of standard at this point? Like, I feel like this is only slightly more ridiculous than saying “well, just don’t use Microsoft Office!” But I don’t know if my feeling about that is correct.)
