@markelias.bsky.social, I work a world away (Aus 🇦🇺) lecturing in inclusive education. Martin Niemöller’s message is the first I teach. I do speak to the next generation, but the gravity of the message is often lost; hidden by the ideals of fortune they feel entitled. The path forward is unsettling
Despicable. Every child - repeating that again - EVERY CHILD deserves access to quality education. Not only is it the right, human position to advocate, it’s also the long-term economically advantageous approach. Inhumane, cruel, and short-sighted. Despicable.
Most global citizens understand that incivility occurs, what sets these figures apart is that the US (as a collective, not many of the individuals/organisations fighting against it) empowers gun ownership within the broader policy/public cultural discourse without the same consideration of impact
Such a great initiative with global appeal. I hope this marks the start of a new model that can better serve all communities.
Here in Australia, looking forward to a new Costco opening up not far from me in the next few weeks. Even from abroad, making sure my $$$$ support the values I hold dear
This is why I research communication and interactional behaviors. Seeking to understand a person’s perspective, gently querying their roots, and respectfully sharing alternative ideas and facts, will have a greater impact than making someone feel belittled or unworthy
An insightful way to understand human behavior…and our own behaviors if we genuinely want to achieve democratic progress
That is certainly one benefit of supporting our allies in the US beyond championing their safety and human rights. Global action is needed to demonstrate unchecked power will not be tolerated in order to limit the spread of such toxic leadership abroad
What are the three best things citizens of other countries across the globe (e.g., Australia) do to support?
@marcelias.bsky.social, thank you for all you do for US (and, by proxy, international) politics. If you need an international perspective, reach out via our other official mechanisms
Trump Chap. 2:
‘Keep them dumb,
Keep them sick,
Keep them poor’
This political position is universal and infests the mindsets of even the most vulnerable in Aus 🇦🇺
Today is not the day to address campaign strategies (we can talk!) but a day to centre and prepare for the times ahead (US and globally!)
10:23pm (20 Jan) in Aus 🇦🇺. Dreading knowing what I (and the world) wakes up to (whether they know it or not…likely, the latter). We stand tall. We stand ethical. We stand united.

@mcuban.bsky.social Agreed, perfectly said. PhD in social justice and education (past teacher, school leader, now education academic w/PhD). Inclusive education is my specialization (improving systems for ALL children)…Let’s chat about better, leadership sustainability if you’re interested 😉

Any (current and/or influential) Academic Starter Pack being imitated in the near future? Let’s target all angles 😉
These are dark days, with darker clouds looming.
The sun will rise on a new tomorrow, one that will cast the greatest shadows on what we live through today.
Agreed, albeit, any assumption of intellectual intelligence is irrelevant. We need to listen to hear, and then respond accordingly. Qual and quant data and analysis will be critical, as well as the quality of researchers involved in such investigations.
So, the big question, what do we learn? How do we move forward stronger, faster, more aligned with the voters’ primary positions?
Thank you. So much to be doubtful about…I get it. Education matters. And Democracy Docket offer insights to a better way forward. Because we can, and do, deserve better: #liftcivicliteracy
I say this as a social science academic with an education background and PolySci field interest. Happy to chat further if you would like to explore another take on this ongoing exploration into what happened, and where to next.
I’m not disagreeing with your statements as a whole (in my own field, I face a lot of this), but I also caution the reduction of scientific knowledge. What the average person ‘sees’ via social media likely does not represent society as a whole (not all use SM), and some ‘academics’ play a SM game
It’s the wrong question. The correct one/s hasn’t been explored…
Right back at ya’…
And what is filling your time/soul by way of activities? Asking for a friend…
We might have to agree to disagree here (🙂). A PolySci background, PhD, professorship, and the rest demonstrate a different level of education. Add to that, to my knowledge, her analysis demonstrated a winnable model that was not candidate-focused, but strategy and comms reliant and not adhered
Umm…yep, that’s why actual political scientists, such as @rachelbitecofer.bsky.social, are where the educated get their analyses (as u guess you know 😉). Rather than posting criticism (even unintentionally, no doubt), uplift the criticism #liftcivicliteracy #wecanliftcivicliteracy
Justice would never have been served otherwise. He spared a citizen from the abuse of power that was likely to come. Biology was likely only a matter in the persecution, not the prosecution.
