Taking Back Minnesota Avenue The biggest concern I've heard from many of you is the loitering, open containers, and drug dealing on Minnesota Avenue. Commissioner Davis and I have spent countless hours talking with community stakeholders to address these issues. I firmly believe we must stop the drug dealing before we can effectively address other issues in the park. We now need your help. Join us as we march together to take back Minnesota Avenue, showing a united front just before and on the first day of school. When: Join us on Thursday, August 21, Friday, August 22, and Monday, August 25 (the first day of school). Time: We'll meet at 3 p.m. each day. Where: We will meet at the intersection of Marion Barry Ave (Good Hope Road) and Minnesota Ave. The March: We will march in the middle of the street down to the 2200 block of Minnesota Ave in front of Boone Elementary, and we will occupy that block on both sides of the street. Commissioner Davis and I will bring bullhorns, but please bring signs. How You Can Help: We need you, your friends, and your families to join us. If you can't march, please join us along the route to show your support. If you can't attend, please help make signs to share with others who can. We'll have MPD on-site, but our strength is in our numbers.
