Early this year I had the opportunity to work with my colleague Jennifer Barros and our collaborators at Taboa cave in Brazil! While we monitored a colony of Natalus we were able to see other incredible 🦇 species such as Platyrrhinus lineatus! For more information please check batcon.org

Sorry, completely missed this. No, this is a different cave - while it used to support Hildegarde’s tomb bat, the level of disturbance and construction above the cave has prompted them to abandon it. We found very few bats during this survey.
Part of the continued emergence of bats from St Clair cave in Jamaica. There are an estimated 2 million #bats using this cave - 10 different species. An incredible sight. 🦇 #Jamaica

Flashback to when I was lucky enough to catch the wrinkle-faced #bat in #Mexico. This species primarily feeds on soft fruit. This face sums up my mood during an early morning call 🦇
Currently, the only known roost for the critically endangered Hill’s horseshoe #bat from Nyungwe National Park, #Rwanda 🦇
This bat was last seen in 1981, and this study was the first time its roost had been identified. You can read more about this in the Biodiversity Data Journal @pensoft.bsky.social
