● Theoretical explanations (Chair: @aripollservent.bsky.social): presentation of the framework and regional perspectives, concluding with next steps.

● Policies linking Euroscepticism and populism (Chair: @alexiakatsanidou.bsky.social ): discussion of the CHES Working Paper and key policy domains (foreign policy, climate policy, cultural identity, sovereignty, immigration/asylum, economic governance), followed by agreed next steps.

WG3 held a packed programme advancing EUPopLink’s work on the overlap between Euroscepticism and populism:

● Expert Survey Questionnaire (Leads: @denisivanov.bsky.social & @piotrsula.bsky.social): overview of purpose and structure, followed by a completion exercise and structured feedback.

The WG2 meeting advanced work on the EUPopLink mass survey questionnaire through a focused technical session:

● Update on the latest version
● Questionnaire completion exercise to identify issues in clarity, feasibility, response scales, missing options, length/burden, and routing logic

The meeting was highly productive, reinforcing coordination across working groups, confirming key next steps, and further strengthening the network’s comparative research on the relationship between Euroscepticism and populism.

On 23-24 February 2026, the EUPopLink COST Action (CA23102) convened at @gesis.org for its 2nd General Meeting.

The two-day programme included:

● a WG3 meeting
● a Management Committee (MC) meeting

Grantees must submit a short experience report for the EUPopLink newsletter and provide digital content (posts, photos, or short videos) for the Action’s website and social media.

EUPopLink invites applications for Dissemination Conference Grants, offering financial support to Action participants to deliver an oral presentation showcasing EUPopLink’s work at high-level conferences.

👥 Who can apply

📣 Open Call: Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) - EUPopLink.

The COST Action EUPopLink (CA23102) invites applications for Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs). STSMs fund short research visits that foster new collaborations and stimulate joint research across the EUPopLink network.

These reports, by systematically presenting for each country (i) the relevant populist political actors,(ii) an analysis of the populism–Euroscepticism nexus, and (iii) an examination of responses to Euroscepticism and their consequences,will generate an unprecedented body of comparative data.

In addition, the forthcoming EUPopLink series of country reports will provide the foundational empirical work needed to push the methodological and empirical frontiers of the field.

This publication introduces the aims and scope of the EUPopLink network and outlines key research questions on the relationship between populism and Euroscepticism in contemporary Europe.
