Informational graphic titled "What are Addison’s disease and adrenal insufficiency?"
Addison’s disease and adrenal insufficiency are rare endocrine conditions, which affect adrenal gland function and can be life-threatening.
Lifelong treatment with replacement steroid hormones is required and if untreated is fatal.
Medication is time-critical and taken several times daily.
Individuals must also know how to administer an emergency hydrocortisone injection to prevent
a potentially fatal adrenal crisis.
Includes a body diagram highlighting the adrenal glands, plus icons for an NHS steroid emergency card and emergency injection kit.
In the bottom left, there is #RareDiseaseDay with the Genetic Alliance website and the Addison's Disease Self-Help Group website underneath. To the right is the Genetic Alliance UK, Rare Disease UK, and Addison's Disease Self-Help Group logos in white.
