Great visit to our longstanding collaboration partners at the ICR discussing how small molecules continue to generate clinical impact. Learned a lot about how Zoran and his team tackle glue degrader discovery to deliver on the promise of expanding the druggable space.

Mario Vargas Llosa: An Appreciation
The Peruvian author Mario Vargas Llosa was the worldβs savviest and most accomplished political novelist.
Una copa bien en alto por uno de mis autores favoritos. Gracias por las historias, las palabras, y la valentΓa. Buen viaje, Mario. π₯π

First impressions of comparing #AACR25 coverage on Bluesky with the other place. I am used to check the conference handle regularly to build my conference schedule. Some interesting findings on Twitter, nothing here yet. I hope conference coverage will pick up here as well.

Several big scientific conference are held each March-April-May in the US. Every scientist from Europe I talk to says something like βnot sure that I should really go thereβ. Itβs an opportunity to meet colleagues and I give a talk, otherwise I would for sure not travel to the US in this situation.

The analogy to the UK is a very good one. Donβt forget that Labour lost with Jeremy Corbyn to an already dysfunctional Tories government under Boris Johnson in a landslide. It took additional years of Tories chaos and a candidate like Starmer who dialed down left rethoric to win a majority.

Some of AOCβs comments about Israel/Gaza are enough that I - as a middle of the road voter (in Europe) - would never support here. With the average US voter being more conservative than Europeans that leaves her with zero electoral chances outside the Bronx.

I expected more from him in the recent campaign. But my perspective watching from Europe may have been incomplete. From over here he looked like the funny uncle everybody likes at family parties but you would never give your wallet to. And there was no content in the Harris campaign anyway.

Still difficult for me to judge the reach of this platform. #AACR25 (5 weeks from now) will be the 1st real test for science posting here. The meeting program is packed w/ sessions about novel ADC approaches, degraders/proximity inducers, targeting intracktables, overcoming resistance, using AI.

This is The main problem of US politics IMO: The only Democrats able to build a credible opposition movement are so far to the left that they would never ever win an election against a JD Vance/Rubio ticket. Where are the candidates for middle of the road voters? And where are these voters hiding?

A small molecule USP7 activator from the Buhrlage Group! Important information in the SI not to be missed: significant activity differences between enantiomers & an inactive control compound. A very strong data package further enabling studies of USP7 biology.
