Ah makes sense. I get every nursery catalog in the mail you can imagine.

Looks like he’s doing a new commando and predator too! I like the new Conan the best though.
Oh shit, there is finally a seedless muscadine vine. We’ve already got a wild muscadine, but I couldn’t pass on a seedless one. Looks like Gurney’s has the patent so you probably can’t buy them elsewhere yet. www.gurneys.com/products/oh-...
A metal sign that says “ yes I really do need all these plants” with faux rust around the edges and plants in pots all over it.
Yall!!! We just had meeting from all the folks from the community garden and I manage. They all signed this in secret and gave it to me. Tryna make me cry in front of 30 people ain’t fair.
My sweet oldest at 6 holding a worm with an uncomfortable smile preparing to fish with me. Lake is in the background.
Man I can’t believe oldest is graduating high school in 2 months. Kid is so bright, beautiful, and kind. I’m so proud of her.
Same, but we are right on the border of 7/8. I’m unsure if they can produce bc they fruit very late in the season. Same reason I don’t grow citrus hardy to our zone. I’m still trying.
You guys! I’m so proud of myself. About 5ish years ago I talked these hard core conservatives into planting a bunch of natives in their yard based on looks alone. This morning they’re sending me all these beautiful pics of them in bloom.
Gotta learn how to prune the pomegranate now. This is 2nd season. I wasn’t too worried bc they are a bush and not a tree. FYI, there are multiple varieties hardy to zone 7 now, but I think you need to be close to zone 8 to get fruit.🌱
Gotten used to subtitles always on while watching tv. Really enjoy the descriptions of music.
Worth a shot. It’s great half day to get shit done outside the house.
Yes, it’s the ideal shape for them. You can decide how long to let the branches get if you want a larger tree.
It 100% works. For a decade I worked 4x9 and 4 hours on Friday. That half day every Friday made a huge difference.
How to shape your fruit trees for your own backyard orchard. This allows for trees to really be crammed in there. 🌱 it reduces disease loads , and just makes for healthier and heavy producing trees. @mustelidmaven.bsky.social
I posted it yesterday. You have to do an initial shaping which takes 1-2 seasons. After that I just prune them twice a year to maintain shape… well except the fig trees which grow wayyyy too fast . I can make a vid about shaping them if you want.
That’s a highly unusual problem. I’d recommend digging a very wide hole that slopes up away from the tree. The science was no help on this one. www.fs.usda.gov/nrs/pubs/jrn...
The weather this year has been wild. We got 2 highly rare winter storms 2 weekends in a row. Plus it snowed hard in south ga and north florida.
You rock. Most folks don’t know know. I keep a leaf pile until early summer and dead stalks up until May.
Yeah GA
Well…. I did a shitload of work around the yard today so I got a good look at everything coming to life. I sure hope we don’t get anymore hard freezes this year. Virtually everything has woken up this week. Last frost was March 8 last year, but the year before it was April 8th.
Totally. You can bring them in to 5’ spacing easily. You can even shape them into hedge rows 3’ tall and space them 3’ apart. It’s easier if you get trees on dwarf or semi-dwarf rootstock but not required. I prune my trees twice a year and that’s it after the initial shaping.
I forgot you were in Alaska. I have no idea what can grow there outside apples and a few species of berries.
I posted it already. As long as you have a full sun area, you can put fruit trees in.
Sweet. I love foundlings. I bet there are other things. The kind of people that plant fruit trees rarely stop at one
When you dig the holes, mix in 50/50 native soil even if it’s shit( the hardest of shit clay here). If you make the soil too rich, the trees will root strangle themselves.

Oh I see you’re in Idaho. That’s one of the worst places to try growing them. 😞 there are several paw paw festivals across the Midwest if you get a chance. I think they are late summer.
They’re really common along waterways in their range. Highly recommend.
3is foot tall pear tree with wire tying it up for shaping.
lol. I missed my 2nd year pear too. I plan to espalier against the fence here.
As promised video of my small yard orchard. I forgot to mention my muscadine over by pecan #1.
Location is anywhere that gets full sun for most fruit trees.
