We crowdfund for Tennessee's underfunded Democratic statehouse nominees – especially those running in the reddest districts. An Every State Blue project. www.bluetennessee.org #voteblue
He'll buy more yard signs this year, then plans to pick those up again next year, too, and keep adding to his campaign materials over time.
See what I mean about Tennesseans? Scrappy. Resourceful.
But because of you – not alone.
Do you want to help candidates like Daniel buy yard signs in 2026?
To put that into context, his opponent, Republican incumbent Michael Hale, had $90,617 in his coffers before the general election.
At the end of the election, Daniel went back out and picked up 200 of those yard signs, which he plans to use again this year.
He also told me that Blue Tennessee's contribution ($1,429 over two disbursements) was the largest donation to his campaign, which he immediately put into yard signs.
Daniel Hawthorne is a high school teacher who ran for HD 40.
He told me he's going to keep running and keep chipping away at the incumbent's vote count for as long as it takes.
Tennesseans are scrappy. We're resourceful.
We're going to keep relentlessly doing the work to chip away at our state's supermajority, because we believe we are worth fighting for.
Last week, I was lucky enough to sit down with one of the nominees we supported last cycle.
We're looking forward to this insightful discussion. If you're still mulling over Tuesday's election results, I hope you'll join us!
Now our job is to keep the progress we’ve made – while fighting for more and sending a message to the GOP that we aren’t backing down.
We’re stepping up.

If for no other reason than to not make the GOP happy, I hope you’ll take one thing away from this election: our state is worth fighting for and progress IS progress.
Aftyn and her team gained ground in Every. Single. County.
Do you know what Republicans are hoping we’ll do?
They hope that we’ll let all this momentum – all this energy, all this hope – die.
I know that last night’s result stings. We all put in a lot of hope and a lot of work, and Aftyn and her team ran a hell of a campaign.
Even though the election night result wasn’t what we worked for, this wasn’t a loss. Really.
Here’s what I’m looking at this morning:
Y’all, tomorrow @aftynbehn.bsky.social makes history.
But don't let up: today and tomorrow you can keep volunteering! This election could be decided by a few thousand votes. Give it our all, then keep this momentum up across the rest of the state!

We're glad you're here with us, because Tennessee shouldn't be taken for granted. It should be invested in as a state that is worthy of time, hope, and resources.
If you believe that, too, I hope you'll join us as a monthly sustaining member.
We can do this throughout the rest of the state, friends.
We can invest in every corner of "ruby-red" Tennessee and make sure that Democratic nominees are supported and that voters have a choice.
And that is why we exist.
The other part of this equation?
When you run everywhere AND give Democratic nominees the resources they need to run, the GOP has to spread out their resources.
It means they can't just take elections (and voters) for granted.
TN-07 isn't supposed to be a competitive district. It isn't supposed to be a race that everyone is watching.
But IT IS.
This is what is possible when you run everywhere and you don't take any district for granted.
The top race drove strong down-ballot participation, helping translate to wins everywhere.

The result? She picked up tons of rural voters, which are usually seen as a GOP stronghold.
In New Jersey, in addition to Mikie Sherrill's win, they flipped 5 traditionally "safe" Republican seats in their state legislature.
How?
What do we learn from this? Trump voters are not a "lost cause", especially when we focus on policies that can improve affordability for all.
In VA, Spanberger defied traditional logic and invested time campaigning in rural areas and talking about economic issues hurting our rural communities. 2/5
Amidst all the chaos, last week's victories already feel like old news - but we shouldn't forget them so quickly!
According to CBS polling, 15% of Trump voters turning out in the NYC mayoral race flipped to Mamdani. 1/5
We're so excited to have @jerrigreen4tn.bsky.social
join us tomorrow for our monthly call!
We'll be talking about takeaways from last week's election results and why we have to run Democrats EVERYWHERE.

Absolutely shameful. tennesseelookout.com/2025/10/24/former-hixson-rep-robin-smith-sentenced-to-8-months-in-federal-prison-for-role-in-corruption-conspiracy/
We send reps to Nashville to SERVE Tennesseans, not steal from them.
Earlier this week, former state Rep. Robin Smith (R) was sentenced to 8 months in federal prison for "a scheme to steal from Tennessee and its citizens through the General Assembly’s taxpayer-funded constituent mail program."
With the Republican shutdown, the 1 out of 10 Tennesseans that rely on SNAP are going to be really struggling come November.
We have a $2 BILLION surplus that could be used to feed hungry Tennesseans that Gov. Lee won't use. Absolutely shameful.

Your MAGA uncle: this weekend is a terrorist anti-America event with paid protestors.
You: Here's dozens of sources that show that's not the case. Also, I'm protesting, and not getting paid, and I'm out there because I love our country.
MAGA uncle: well, I saw it on Facebook, so it must be true.
