What a special player Harry Brook is. It was a perfectly fine length ball from Nawaz. Brook goes back and just forces it over mid-on. Nawaz shouts "catch" but it goes all the way for a six.

After just one game, Afghanistan, the semi-finalists of the 2024 edition, face a do-or-die situation.

Delhi Capitals race to 75/0 after six overs. That's the kind of start they would have hoped for while putting together Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee as openers.
#WPL2026
Canada's squad for #T20WorldCup has
- someone who has won the IPL in the past
- someone who has a 15-ball fifty
- someone who once didn't concede a single run in his four overs
Playing under a new captain, can they make a splash?

Unpopular opinion
Five years of work experience should be a minimum requirement for an MBA degree.
At one point during India's chase, a staggering, almost scary stat appeared on TV: Ishan Kishan, balls/boundary 2.
Kishan had faced 29 balls and hit 15 boundaries. Even more incredible was that he had done so after India were reduced to 6 for 2.

Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav lay down the marker as India chase down 209 in just 15.2 overs.
India were 6 for 2 after 1.1 overs and still registered their joint-highest successful chase in T20Is, with seven wickets to spare.

Rinku Singh rarely plays scoops, ramps or reverse hits. Still, he has a strike rate of 165.00 in T20Is.
When it comes to the last two overs of the innings, it zooms to 287.83. Restrict it to just the 20th over, and it becomes a mind-boggling 302.63.

Delhi Capitals continue with the same overseas combination. If they were bringing in Deeya Yadav for Minnu Mani, strengthening their already strong batting, they could have replaced Laura Wolvaardt with Alana King.
#WPL2026 #DCvMI
Mumbai Indians make the tough but right call of leaving out Amelia Kerr. Kerr has been their bowler this season but they could no longer afford to ignore their opening woes.
#WPL2026 #DCvMI
Delhi Capitals have to bring in Alana King. Surely they don't want to die wondering.
#WPL2026
What a dominant show by RCB. They have qualified for the playoffs with three games in hand. One more win and they will be assured of a place in the final.
#WPL2026 #GGvRCB
Nadine de Klerk has more wickets now in #WPL2026 than Ellyse Perry took in any of the seasons.

High time they tried Shweta Sehrawat at the top.

Surely you don't need to hide Deepti Sharma from right-hand batters.
#WPL2026
I'd rather have Shweta Sehrawat open the innings than Harleen Deol.
#WPL2026
This is as much a test for Richa Ghosh as it is for Harleen Deol.
#WPL2026
Yeah, this is probably their strongest batting line-up. And they cannot leave Henry out - don't have many Indian seam-bowling options.
Here's my Delhi Capitals XI:
1 Shafali Verma
2 Lizelle Lee* (wk)
3 Jemimah Rodrigues
4 Deeya Yadav
5 Marizanne Kapp*
6 Chinelle Henry*
7 Niki Prasad
8 Alana King*
9 Sneh Rana
10 Nandani Sharma/Minnu Mani
11 Shree Charani
(3/3) #WPL2026
Lee averages 38.37 at a strike rate of 151.84 in the last three WBBL seasons. Not just that, she has also hit the most sixes in this time. Wolvaardt, though a class batter, is an anchor.
Lee is a keeper too. So DC can play Deeya Yadav in place of Bhatia/Madiwala. (2/3)
#WPL2026
Have seen many people pick Laura Wolvaardt in their XI for Delhi Capitals. And Taniya Bhatia/Mamatha Madiwala as the wicketkeeper. But that's a sub-optimal choice.
I will pick Lizelle Lee over Wolvaardt. This is Lee's first WPL season but ... (1/3)
#WPL2026
#WPL2026 starts today with a lot to look forward to:
- A new, dedicated window
- More evenly matched teams after the mega auction
- The return of the double-headers
- Two exciting first-timers at DC: 16-year-old Deeya Yadav and 33-year-old Lizelle Lee
and more

The spinners also have a better economy (9.11) at the death compared to the seamers (10.51). In the top ten most economical death bowlers, eight are spinners. (Kapp: 5 overs, econ 11.20)
Deepti Sharma is one of the rare spinners who has leaked runs at the death (econ 11.04).
#WPL2026
In men's T20 cricket, spinners don't bowl much at the death. In IPL 2025, fast bowlers bowled 81.3% of the death overs and spinners 18.7%.
But in the WPL, fast bowlers have bowled 39% of the death overs and spinners 61%.
#WPL2026
When it comes to bowling, DC's Marizanne Kapp is the gold standard. She has an economy rate of 5.62 in the powerplay and 5.51 in the middle overs - the only one to concede less than a run a ball in both phases (min. eight overs).
#WPL2026
GG are also the slowest side in the death overs - at 8.91, the only ones under nine. This could be an issue once again.
RCB have been the best with 10.19, thanks to Richa Ghosh. They have also got Nadine de Klerk and Grace Harris this time, though with no Perry, Harris could bat in the top order.
