On Turrbal land. I know a bit about dog and cat behaviour and welfare. I like learning about libraries, knitting and sewing, ecosystems, butterflies and moths, active transport too. My blood is red out of fury - Lisa O’Neill Palestine must be free.

The Power of Poetry with things falling apart and anarchy let loose, it was only poetry, he found, which had any use, so he reached for his copy of The Complete Works of Yeats and bludgeoned the President of the United States Brian Bilston
Here’s a short poem about the power of poetry to change the world.
ABC Indigenous doesn’t mince words
I am so sorry. I saw a psychologist who appreciated disenfranchised grief, although she didn’t use those words. I’ve more recently come across the image that we grow to encompass our grief, so that over time it doesn’t so often bump painfully against our insides, but it’s still there and as big.
I got paid millions of dollars to be an athlete in a locker room full of superhumans and this is flat out unreal. Wtf indeed.
I cancelled my delivery membership and haven’t shopped at Coles since I read this last year. Have gone back to an eco-focused regional food delivery service for as much as possible and we’re really happy with that.

What a loss is Sarah Fisher for the dog community. An enormous, generous heart, who helped so many people to new insights and better care. Vale.

Yay! It’s a beautiful set.
I found this listing for a Madonna and Child on Etsy. Not a huge amount of info, perhaps a clue though. www.etsy.com/au/listing/1...
Some good news, for a change: I signed a book contact with UQP in late October, and resisted the urge to do a happy dance until they did the official announcement >

Clem, a Cattle Dog mix whose coat has little sable-red spots on a cream background, dozes on the couch.
One groggy dog, home with a main diagnosis of spondylosis. He struggles with vet care, but was so carefully tended at our vet, that he had no dramas.
The dude that built our cabinet was telling me that he didn’t teach his son “lefty loosey, righty tighty”. He taught him that the left liberates and the right oppresses. 😂😂😂
I got to the Pom, and went, nope, that breed does not land in a shelter in show coat, and turned off.
Short and frequent is ideal. Slowing down can be hard. Dogs in pain tend to need to rush more, too. If we stay behind them, letting them sniff and roll and look around for as long as they want, and then starting moving when they do, that can help. He’s a beautiful dog.
Have you come across Canine Arthritis Management (UK), or Canine Arthritis Resources and Education (US)? I have more experience w/CAM, they have great info. It looks from the pic like you’re managing flooring well. Slowing down on walks is helpful too, for sore and not sore dogs.
Thanks, popped straight over to Bandcamp and bought it. It’s beautiful.
We call this game, it almost got away!
I ask very often, it helps the library build a great collection, and makes the books available for the community. Right now I have out 2 books I asked them to buy and am waiting on a 3rd
Good intentions won't save us on this slippery slope

I’m number 51 in line at the library, so hopefully they will get plenty of copies.
This is what I’ve been watching today. So impressive, I don’t want to watch the Bergman version. Clem was concerned though about the darling King Charles Spaniel (English Toy Spaniel dep where you live) pup whining. youtube.com/watch?v=UYmt...
Love seeing someone wait for their dog!
Having a dog who really wants to avoid other dogs, I just generally get more and more cranky with other people out with their dogs. I manage him extremely carefully, and he has beautiful, peaceful walks, but they’re interrupted every few months. And while he recovers instantly, I don’t.
I've lived in the UK for better part of 25 years and have read British literature for longer than that, and it's only TODAY I learned that Americans frown with our mouths and the British frown with their foreheads. You freaks.
It’s time to post this quote again…
“The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.”
― James Baldwin
A terrific read about a super impressive Indigenous teenager and their supportive school leadership & community
Facts matter.
