Witnessing "two-eyed seeing" in action through this successful cultural burn was an incredible lesson in stewardship. The event was made possible through the partnership led by the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe. I am very grateful to have been invited to participate.

Coyote through my window

Coyote through my window

This #coyote has been visiting my office in the field station! In Chochenyo language the word for coyote is #mÑyyan. The common name, coyote, is derived from the language NÑhuatl (Aztec) word #coyōtl. The scientific name for coyote is Canis latrans, which translates from Latin as barking dog.

I am a fan of natural history and maybe this is not super paleoecology but I really enjoyed the detailed and curious journey, personal and scientific, of Humboldt in The Invention of Nature by @andreawulf.bsky.social

Captured a great picture of a bee flying towards a Chicory (Cichorium intybus) flower. An invasive species found on disturbed areas. Did you know that the whole plant is edible, and it is often mixed with coffee! #ESA2025
