Our current health care system is not designed to provide quality care to all people.

It is designed to make huge profits for insurance & drug companies.

In that sense, the system is working very well.

But it is not working for the average American.

We need Medicare for All.

If only experts existed who could warn Americans repeatedly that foreign aid is money spent to pay Americans and buy things from Americans but no one's ever said it out loud so who can blame people for not understanding

I’m a part time librarian and I just want to echo what I’ve seen other librarians say recently: there is a HUGE uptick in requests for social justice, climate justice, abolition, history, etc books and I just want to say nobody is giving up the fight. If anything people are fighting harder #library

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

I think it already is.

But seriously. Don’t call them names. We want the door open for them when they realize the mistake they made.

We are for a better America. Not a vindictive America

We used to all hold our breath hoping a shooter wasn’t a Muslim or a trans person.

Now we gotta worry if the air traffic controller was Black?!

Do you see how far they have moved the window?

About the presidency, Harry Truman famously said “the buck stops here.” Trump is trying to pass the buck and blame everybody but his administration for the DC plane crash. This is a time for consoling the families and investigating the cause of this tragedy, not shameful finger pointing.

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

This is exactly how I feel. It's a moment to practice radical kindness.

Community is the antidote to despair.

To me, today is solely about the legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Happy MLK Jr. Day, my friends. In 1968, Dr. King spoke the following words, which are equally true today:

"The nation is sick. Trouble is in the land; confusion all around.... But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars."

We must find & feed the points of light.

Remember that January 20th 2025 is Martin Luther King Jr Day.. A day of service. Let's not be consumed by any other events of the day and let's focus on service to those less fortunate.

The 20 of Jan is Reverend Dr Martin Luther Kings Day I will be celebrating with friends and honoring him that day and tuning out anything negative I hope you will join me.
