Her backstory is taken wholesale from Astro Boy. Brilliant scientist’s beloved child dies in a car wreck and in a half-mad frenzy he builds a robot in that child’s image.
Instead of being outright antagonistic, he’s just really distant and ashamed afterwards though.
Gonna need to see what they all end up as first. Bipedalism is not a dealbreaker, it just has to look cool.

You don’t really need a budget to do indie animation, the problem is “indie animation” has been reduced to bigger budget/studio works with insane frame-by-frame animation, a big crew/voice cast and a merch line instead of scrappy shit you make in a week by yourself or with some friends in Flash.
