"Driftwood, Seascape" is a digital photograph of the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean, dipping partly behind a bank of low, gray-purple clouds. The waves are high and the white-capped breakers send foamy wavelets onto the shallow beach. The view is from behind a large, well-weathered driftwood tree trunk, which is high up on the dry sand. Between us and the water are a beachcomber's paradise of shells, agates, and assorted flotsam and jetsam, interrupted by tire tracks in the sand parallel to the water. The damp shingle reflects the silver and gold glow of the setting sun, while the waves reflect the deepening blue of the sky above. The sand and the driftwood are shadowed in cool blue and purple tones, reminding us that perhaps it's time to turn our steps homeward.

"Moonlight in Paris, and Eggs" is a photograph of a half-opened floribunda rose of the variety 'Moonlight in Paris' set on top of a wire basket filled with freshly-gathered eggs. The outer petals of the rose are just beginning to spread, revealing their creamy-pink-to-white slightly ruffled edges. The inner petals are still loosely furled, and are warm peachy-apricot in color, with pale edges. The eggs in the black wire basket are white, cream, and light brown, giving the composition an air of domestic warmth with a touch of elegance from the transient and fragile nature of its subjects.

"Electric Blue Girl" is a close-up photo of a hybrid tea rose variety named 'Blue Girl'. There are no truly blue roses, but 'Blue Girl' ranges from cool pink to lavender tones, the nearest to a blue rose when the variety was released in the early 2000s. In this photo, the pink tones have been accentuated, and the purples and blues are relegated to the shadows on the lower petals. Beads of rainwater are prominent on the outer petals and the half-furled inner petals. Dominant colors are a range of pinks, from pale and creamy to bright fuchsia, with hints of lavender, blue, and magenta in the shadows and water drops.

This photograph captures an early evening scene of a small arched bridge across a river, casting its reflection into the water below. In the very top right of the photo, a near-quarter waxing moon peeps down. A pair of ducks in the lower right of the frame appear to share our appreciation of the view. Dominant colors are a cool blue-gray in the upper sky which finds its echo in the water below. In between, delicate pink, coral, and yellow shades characteristic of early evening contrast with deep grays, blacks, browns and greens that form the banks of the river and the bridge that unites them. The staged reflections of tree branches, beams and rails from the bridge, and the delicate sky are broken into swags and stitches by the motion of the water, suggesting further cohesion even as the scene plays out its essentially ephemeral nature.

This digital photograph shows a landscape of tall trees and bushes just coming into full leaf in the near foreground. There's a small gap between the cluster of bushes on the left and the first slender tree on the right, through which we see the water of Grays Harbor, rising smoothly on the tide, extending some miles to where a backdrop of low hills interrupts the horizon. The lower half of the sky and the sea below are suffused with pinks and corals and pale yellows as the sun begins to set behind us, with the colors fading to hazy blue and pale gray/lavender among the boughs of the trees. The truncated and near-vertical leg of a rainbow, showing only pinks and yellow and a hint of purple in the fading light, rises above the distant hills; its reflection stretches the whole of the distance across the pink and blue stillness of the water to end at our feet.
