Children are in a constant state of change, physically and psychologically, as they mature. It must be absolutely exhausting! Some children face even greater challenges in a society that may be less than welcoming. www.booktrust.org.uk/news-and-fea...

My teenage daughter still does this, although it's now done at a later hour.

I love Christmas as both my children get so excited about it - even my teenage eldest loves all things Christmas: the lights, the movies, the tree, the markets and of course the presents! And my youngest is just a mad bouncing ball of happy energy. So it's this that makes Christmas special for me.

Three books published by Nosy Crow. Murder at Wintertide, Murder in Midwinter and Murder at Snowfall. They aren't a series. Different protagonists in each one.

I'm going to try a Bluesky giveaway.
Don't know how it's going to go - but I'm giving all three of these books to a school or a family. Cozy crime for 9 - 13 year olds.
One winner, UK only.
To enter tell me something about Christmas that makes you happy.

Have just made a couple of updates to my Reading for Pleasure Padlet. Ideas for staff meetings, teaching resources, links to a map of children's bookshops, suggested picturebooks to use in assemblies, templates for surveys, and lots more. I hope it's useful. padlet.com/Jon_Biddle/r...

My map of children's independent bookshops is updated regularly. Most provide an online service and they're all run by people who can make well-informed book recommendations. Make sure you support your local one if you want to keep it. Any missing, please let me know. padlet.com/Jon_Biddle/r...

To celebrate the writing community here, I'm offering a free critique to unagented children's writers. I was helped by kind @amysparkes.bsky.social who mentored me. Like, share & follow with a gif that represents your ms. I'll crit a PB or chapter one of CB or MG. #kidsbooks

Hello! Reposting a thread of starter packs to help anyone spending their Sunday trying to find UK children’s book people. Most are being updated so if you checked them before, you may find new additions. #kidlitUK

I used to do this in the early days of twitter so, before this place becomes feral...got any questions about children's publishing/writing? I won't have all the answers but I worked in publishing for 15 years before going full time as an author, here for all your demystification needs. #Kidlituk
