So happy to share this! Bacteriocins were first discovered over 100 years ago, but what do they actually do? We look at >1000 bacteriocin plasmids and find links to virulence and antimicrobial resistance, and frequent bacteriocin sharing in Enterobacteriaceae.

Picture of a page from the journal "Nature", which begins: Scientists need more time to think E-mails and instant messaging are core to research - but also a distraction. Researchers should study their impact on science, and how they can claw back time to concentrate.
Scientists need more time to think and so do I. So do you.
Emails and messaging are the OG brainrot, and scrolling makes it so much worse.
I've spent a lot of coaching time with clients on creating more distance from their phone, literally and figuratively. Much benefit.
The recordings of the 6-hour webinar on Bacterial Strain Taxonomy for Genomic Surveillance are now available through the @ecdc.europa.eu ECDC Learning portal: learning.ecdc.europa.eu/course/view.... - cgMLST, SNPs, K-mer based strain nomenclatures applications and more!
Great first day at the #IMMEM XIV occurring in Porto, Portugal!

@ICARe_AMR has a great atmosphere and location @LesPensieres , with a unique faculty and a special session on #AMR #genomics with François Lebreton @flebreton.bsky.social and myself – great opportunities for networking and scientific discussions
Still speechless about this distinction!!
As a new ESCMID Fellow, the responsability is even higher.
Thank you to all that somehow contributed to it and to @escmid.bsky.social ExCom!
I can only promise to continue dedicated to the society and the ESCMID community 🫶🏼

Last but not least:
Today we presented the APPLE project assessing linezolid resistant enterococci carriage in hospitalized patients from different countries - a project funded by a @escmid.bsky.social study group grant and led by Jennifer Bender & Guido Werner.
Incredible start of the day at the #ESCMID Global 2025 with @aresarroyom.bsky.social talking about plasmids transfer 🙌🏼 we still have a lot to learn about these fascinating elements!

We are already here at the great ESCMID Global 2025! Looking forward to meet good friends and to learn a lot ☺️@natachacouto.bsky.social @escmid.bsky.social
Let’s meet in Vienna!
Two journals tried paying peer reviewers and found increased acceptance, earlier reports, and no change in quality.
WHAT A SURPRISE!
