I already salute every George flag and Union Jack. Just not the way the Americans do.

I can never remember the evening when I went to see a movie. I remember every opera performance. Movies close you down. Opera opens you up.

I wish the real world was drawn in Herge's ligne claire.

Meet Tiggy. She was an orphan kitten who turned up on our balcony in Crete five years ago. Slowly she got into the house, then our hearts. We flew her back to the UK and now, like Pocky, she's one of us. The house is hers. To think, I tried to shoo her away at first.

ATM that could get your Facebook account permanently suspended. It's happening for less.

People should be aware that Facebook is permanently suspending accounts that poke fun at you-know-who. I can provide evidence, but it's not hard to find.

Yeah, mine got suspended for reposting the Seth Meyers quote about being one Epstein file away from revealing aliens landed. So all my socials - cycling etc - gone. I work in tech, and this is a reality check.

Listened to Equinoxe by J-M Jarre tonight for the first time in 40 years. What a bloody good album it is. My cat loves it, too.

He's a charming guy, and appears well-meaning, but the twice I've seen him address an audience he was lacking in both passion and detail. This story is tumbleweed moving.

Yep. I got suspended (mystifyingly) from Facebook after reposting Seth Meyer's 'we're one Epstein revelation from T**** revealing that aliens have landed' from 6 months ago. I feel like I've been released from an overflowing toilet cubicle. I'm not going to appeal it.

The king is not king because he is good.

He is king because he is next.

But if the line of succession can be edited when someone becomes unacceptable, then birth is no longer the source of legitimacy.

Acquiesce is.

The peak. Ancient Athens. Or was it Venice? Sorry, yes, it was Edwardian England. No? Vietnam?. Or the Apple Mac? Right! It was Cool Britannia. Ah, yes. White, white skin. That was it...

Perhaps look at the qualities he was appointed for. Then the people who appointed him.

I once went to an ENO performance of Turandot and was forced to listen to the whole thing in English. Ruined it for me.

Calls to halt UK Palantir contracts grow amid โ€˜lack of transparencyโ€™ over deals Opposition MPs urge Labour to pause public contracts with the US tech firm after attempts to examine deals blocked

Pressure building on govt to come clean about Mandelson's role in bringing US spy-tech firm Palantir into the heart of our NHS.

The fingerprints of Mandelson and his lobbying firm are all over these deals.

The rot goes to the heart of this Labour govt

The New Years on Mubi has been magnificent.

The disturbance in the UK is mainly from the over-12 millennials. Just had a masterclass in vacuous loud swearing on the train back from London.

The wrong man at the wrong time. In domestic as well as foreign policy, the message to foes and allies alike is clear. When the going gets tough, he'll buckle.
