Just for clarity, DG is in fact a vital strategic asset base that the US has used extensively for past actions in the Gulf region involving heavy bombers. The distance notwithstanding, we do fly from there often.

There are many days where I want to just break down and swear at him and tell him that he is a morally bankrupt idiot.
By then again, he represents the challenge that I face and I cannot bring myself to back down from trying to get chin to see the failure in his logic.
Exactly that. He enjoys (although he would never admit it) feeling superior to minorities and is terrified of someone doing that to him. Terrified to the point of being willing to burn the constitution if it means perceived protection for him.
It is gut wrenching to engage with on many levels.
I spend a great deal of time engaging with a friend that is a supporter. The way in which he will buy into this is frightening. The words play upon his inherent racism and tap into his most primal fears of losing white america. He will exclude all other logic against this fear.
Hoovered up like pure cocaine by his supporters unfortunately.

Yes. Even if the goal was to reduce the population of baitfish. (Which is counterintuitive to a pond) letting it flop in the sun at your feet until it is dead is just cruel. That he would do this with a film crew standing next to him blew my mind.
It was a quick segment but it said so much to me.
There was a long pause until the host realized that Bush had no intention of getting the fish back to the water. The host then offered, “Is that a method of population control for the pond?” To which Bush happily agreed was a great way to put it.
To me, this said everything about him as a human.
My window to his soul came from a fishing show of all things.
He was a guest on a show, the host fishing with him from a dock on his property in Texas. Bush caught a little sunfish, took it off the hook and dropped it. The fish was flopping helplessly on the dock. The host looked at him awkwardly.
Yes indeed. Which in turn leads to a somewhat slippery slope that can materialize with spousal reactions such as “Did you just say that you want to get some sandbags?”
As someone that also like to be prepared, learning how we are increasing Mother Nature’s ability to throw outlier events at us, is deeply disconcerting.
The journey of learning how an incredibly complex system is responding to our forced perturbations in near real-time absolutely fascinates me. Watching these studies progress over the years is just awesome.

The fascination with spec forces is endless in American men and easily exploited by our adversaries.

I think that this is a very honest answer for many of us.
I know it is very mainstream to say it but when “Dreams” by Van Halen first appeared on the screen, that was pretty much a psychedelic experience for young me. I don’t think I ever got over it either. It is the perfect video to me. Long live the Scooter and formation landings by the Blues.
