Regular T intersection - side street and busier main road, with curb cuts but no crosswalk over the side street. No bike lanes of any kind. Highland & Winslow in Kitchener.

Same intersection but now on the right of the curb there’s an asphalt bike lane and concrete sidewalk that continue across the side street - the asphalt for the side street slopes down away from the sidewalk and there’s a concrete curb cut for car entry from the main street.

My kid once asked me why the sidewalk always stops at the road. Now I can show him that it doesn’t have to.
