Comic page from A Polycule of Mars. Commander Brinks, Joshua Alvarez, and Sarah Cheong are finally reunited, and they are so happy to see each other again. At the same time, the Martians are shockingly uncomfortable with such naked displays of affection and emotion.
Oh good lord, they're touching.

Thank you! And welcome!
Cropped and censored image of the Martian Jhailee laying on her back, her hands making a heart shape over her chest. Text reads, "Happy Valentine's Day. Let's smooch under Phobos AND Deimos."
What's more romantic than smooching under the moon? Smooching under TWO MOONS!
Happy Valentine's to you from Mars.
Definitely need a refresher then! But we do have all our human astronauts in one place for the first time.
And yet, it's somehow even MORE complicated than that. XD
Comic page from A Polycule of Mars. Joshua Alvarez introduces Commander Brinks to the Martians Jhailee and Kirsheen. Brinks attempts to be diplomatic, but is too forward by Martian custom. Sarah Cheong returns with Darjoon and at long last the gang is all here.
Those of you who've been reading along will remember why a simple handshake evokes such a strong reaction on Mars.

It's not something I've considered since it usually strikes me as working at cross purposes to intentionally give up a tool as powerful as dialogue. But you certainly could do it. You'd have to be good at drawing expressions though.
The Martian Darjoon and the stranded astronaut Sarah Cheong walk alone through a Martian hallway. A quiet moment heavy with portent.
I love using silent panels like these. No dialogue needed. The art gives you everything you need to feel that beat of the story.

Two humans stand in a sci-fi alien room. One of them is a naked black woman, the other a bespeckled Latino wearing nothing but a red Martian loincloth. The woman exclaims, "What are you wearing?" to which the man replies, "Oh this? Just some local threads."

Having used many a pencil in my youth, I can safely say that mechanical is the superior format.
I didnβt stick around long enough to notice the brand. Might have been a Kickstarter. I dunno.
