Genuinely think this guy might have actually been a fey messing with humans.

Writer, reader, gamer. Still mostly bogling to Aswad. https://wouldyouliketochangethedifficultysetting.wordpress.com/ Any pronouns. No alt text? No follow, no matter how cool & interesting you are. There will be swears.

I swirled it together, it was fine but I had so many questions. I watched him use the milk foamer, yet the milk was not foamy when it came out. The two components were separate in a way I would not have thought chemically possible.
The other day I got a coffee at work and it was a new barista. I asked for a latte (if you're a coffee purist who thinks it shouldn't be drunk with milk, get a real problem) and what he served was essentially a shot of espresso with entirely separate hot milk on top.

Last night's dream: I went for cocktails with Susan Wokoma and she ordered a Cherry No-No.
Not sure if I've remembered or invented something, there.

Oh no, just seen an article about the actor who plays Dani Rojas taking up professional football and so that's my earworm taken care of for the next week and a half at least.
Hey! What did cats ever do?!
I am on holiday today but husband and dog are still in bed so spending my morning getting mad about HE and AI instead, like an IDIOT.
No alt-text but an important thread and in each case the image is of the part of the document with the precise passage which is then paraphrased in the skeet, so those with screen readers aren't missing *too* much context.
Sometimes I have picked people with dazzling qualifications whose personal statements underwhelmed and these are almost always less engaged and eager students than those who might have flunked out at some point but are now really keen to do This Particular Thing.
A-levels are great. But you know what's also great and goes way further than people like this guy ever realise? Wanting to be there and truly caring about the subject and/or learning more generally. When I read personal statements that's what I'm looking for, not qualifications.
Itβs absurd that we have unelected political representatives and also that they frequently have better judgment than our MPs.
I keep getting Instagram ads for turf. I've finally tipped over to the "boring garden bastard" side of the algorithm.
"why did you become a writer" because no one gave a shit about my special interests growing up. now i make them everyone else's problem. next question
English tabloids might mention something like that in the article itself, but headlines are usually couched in obfuscating language that minimises harm like "bad boy" or "tough nut".
Courier headline: Convicted domestic abuser and former Kasabian front man Tom Meighan will perform in Dundee
Much as The Courier is something of a right wing rag at times, I do appreciate that they are pretty consistent in doing this regardless of who it is. If someone has a serious criminal conviction you bet that they're putting that in the headline.
This is a good analogy. Very useful in carefully controlled settings for specific usages, but unfortunately being widely inserted into everything and used without training or PPE and poisoning a lot of things and people and weβre going to pay a tonne of money to remove it safely in the future
Wait a second... @scribbledawn.bsky.social is that you in there?!
It's also very important that they cook a fish by burying it with hot stones on a beach.
I'm giving a talk on Wed 25th March about fanfiction as an example of digital cultural heritage. Do come along if you're in Edinburgh (booking details below).
I am honoured to be featured in this collection alongside some absolute legends of game narrative!
I tried to playfully interrogate the philosophical stance that there definitely exists a dichotomy or proportion between game story and mechanicsβpossibly breaking international law in the process π
"We need a public information campaign. We need a narrative strong enough to counter #BigTech [...] This has to be a bottom-up, author-led, creative-led movement."

I apologise in advance to my students for tomorrow's "AI and Writers" seminars. Going to be foaming at the mouth.

It occurs to me that if the government did force UK writers to hand over their work to the big AI companies, that would now among other things mean contributing to the development of US advanced weapon systems.
That would explain it!
Platform 20 at Edinburgh has to be the worst platform in any station. Weirdly cut off from the rest of the platforms, a 5g and WiFi blackspot, & the announcement boards are really badly positioned in relation to where the train stops. I groan every time I see that's where my train is leaving from!
For context, this is roughly the cost of one (1) Brimstone missile
