Yikes, seriously- why do journalists never ask (for example) just why the cost of that bat tunnel is so high? Why don't they point out the huge inefficiencies in construction and the layer upon layer of subcontractors each taking a cut.

Well that's a relief!
I think my Fell pony would look good in that (probably not a million miles away from the type that originally wore it!)
And he should know that student loans are an essentially an education tax - not a loan to those wanting to buy a degree.I left school at 16 with no qualifications. I then got a BSc and PhD in my late 20s/early 30s. I did a foundation year in lieu of A levels as part of that BSc.
First curlew back! Fingers crossed for more than 2 pairs this year.
Aaah, trying to sell the American dream of the possibility social mobility - it's not that you can't be rich, just that you aren't rich yet.
Can we still call coconut milk, coconut milk?
Ridiculous that it's taken that long and ridiculous that it doesn't affect game shooting.
Why has it taken so long? Good that there are some consequences at least.
I live in Scotland. This was categorically not the way to help Labour in Scotland.
Mental. This will not help Labour in Scotland whatsoever. Numpty. (Sarwar that is).
OMG, Ch4 The Dog House and Tinker. Yes, am crying.
About time
Bloody hell.
NE Scotland had 400% of their January rainfall and it's been raining every day in Feb. But hey, let's all forget about climate change!
And the type of people complaining about the concept of 15minute cities were the ones complaining about the lack of community and facilities locally to start with as it wasn't 'like the good old days'.
Well done @hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social
Shame Labour are not committed to helping nature @teamlabouruk.bsky.social
Nice one!
What an idiot and also, serves him right. If you can't back up something as important as grant applications then you don't deserve to have them awarded.
Lots of unsuspecting new spood owners caught out by buying wild caught spiders that either don't live too long because they're male or because the process pretty much kills them. And of course the ecological cost of removing them.
Kind of odd it was published so quietly and of course, was delayed due to the Planning Bill.
That phrase so beloved of the Cabinet, is so grating!

I played with it a bit out of curiosity. When I asked for references on certain points it stated, it came up with perfectly feasible references- right people, journals and timeline. They were fake references though, and when I asked if it had made them up, it said yes!
An oldie but a goodie.
Old Soviet joke: a man goes to a newsstand every day and looks at just the front pages of all the newspapers. The guy behind the stand asks him what he's looking for. "An obituary". "But comrade, obituaries aren't on the front page!" "The one I'm looking for will be."
Done
These are beautiful!
We're pretty rural here and have thousands of acres of land that aren't heavily used by people- so we do have a good population. Unfortunately this land is bound by sheep farmers.
I see them often in this part of Lanarkshire although local farmer pays someone to 'control' them and he shoots about 40 per year. I had a pair lobbed over my paddock fence one winter :(
